There’s not many verses that sum up Christianity as beautifully as Php 1:21. “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.” Truly that’s it in a nutshell. Life is a win. Death is a win. When centred on Jesus, it’s win-win. And there is no limit to the depth of those few words – how they feed off each other and create a magnificent upward spiral; how they speak into any situation, struggle or suffering; and how they apply broadly to this age of redemption as much to each individual this side of heaven. Whether we’re striving for a good life or a good death, this verse has it all.
