*Walking in the Spirit*

*Galatians 5:16*
* *
In Galatians chapter 5 and verse 16, Paul wrote, /"Walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh"//./
This is a simple formula for a righteous lifestyle.
We have a choice: we can live according to our carnal desires for comfort and pleasure, or we can trust the Holy Spirit to enable us to serve the Lord, regardless of the cost.
Resisting the tug of the flesh isn't easy.
Even the disciples—who spent three years living with Jesus and learning directly from Him—could not expect to achieve righteousness in their own strength.
In Acts chapter 1, the Lord instructed them to wait in Jerusalem until the power of the Holy Spirit came upon them.
And modern disciples can put no more confidence in their flesh than did those 11 close friends and followers /of /Jesus.
In order to walk by the Holy Spirit, we must accept the truth that it's impossible to live the Christian life apart from Him.
If we depend upon our own experiences and strength, we will fail.
God's Spirit works in and through us—that's why submitting our will to His power and guidance is critical.
And surrender isn't a one-time deal; believers have to yield repeatedly.
Every time a decision must be made, we look to the Spirit and do as He wills.
Righteous living simply is not natural for human beings.
We require help, and our Father has graciously given us a Helper so we can live in a God-pleasing manner.
We have the choice whether to yield to His direction, which leads to joy and peace.
May God grant you the wisdom to make the right decision.
