2 Timothy 1:12 ESV
12 which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.
Romans 12:8 CEV

8. When should we seek assurance?
[Now]
9. Does the Bible teach that God elects because He foresees our faith? See
Romans 8:29–31 ESV
29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified. 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

[No]
10. Can we make ourselves elect?
[No].
3 What is wrong with this view according to the author?
11. Can we seek assurance that we are elect?
Can I Be Sure I’m Saved? The Prescient View of Election

For example, some people think that our salvation is the ground of our election. In this perspective, salvation (in a sense) precedes election.

3 What is wrong with this view according to the author?
This view tends to lead us toward works, and it doesn’t match the order of salvation according to .
[Yes]
Can I Be Sure I’m Saved? The Prescient View of Election

We talk about the perseverance of the saints, and I believe that the saints do in fact persevere, but they persevere because they are preserved by God.

12. Let’s read :
4 What are your thoughts on the above statement?
John 17:6–12 ESV
6 “I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now they know that everything that you have given me is from you. 8 For I have given them the words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. 9 I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in them. 11 And I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. I have guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.

[The Father]
14. According to verse 11, what does Jesus ask the Father to do?
[to keep them in His name]
15. Will the Father answer Him?
[Of course]
I believe in order to persevere you need to have the power of the Holy Spirit. I see so many people who say they are following Christ but they don’t persevere. The called individual perseveres. The fact that they continue to seek God in order to persevere through the temptation and trials of life.

[Verses 29-30—our eternal salvation]
So all things related to God electing us, calling us, justifying us and one day glorifying us will work out! Nothing will keep us from the love of God in saving our souls (the meaning of ).
Romans 8:37–39 ESV
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:29–30 ESV

Titus 3:5 ESV
5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
Ephesians 2:1–10 ESV
1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. 4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
How does our calling relate to our assurance?
[Answer: We know we’re called if God regenerates us, or causes us to be born again—the new birth. It produces a change in our hearts and lifestyle. Instead of hating God, we now love Him and desire to obey Him.]
20. Is it possible for the Holy Spirit to inhabit a person’s soul and not produce change?
[Answer: Absolutely impossible]
