Now in Revelation chapter 10 we just finished up with the events of the 5th and 6th trumpets. Before we get into the 7th trumpet God spends some time in chapters and 11 just talking about some things to do with the 7th trumpet and things that lead up to the 7th trumpet.
I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire.
Revelation 10:2-
He had a little book open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land, and cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars. When he cried out, seven thunders uttered their voices.
So I want you to get the picture here this mighty angel comes down from heaven clothed with a cloud with a rainbow around his head his face is as bright as the sun, and he comes down and he sets one foot on the sea, and his left foot on the land. He cries with a loud voice as when a lion roars, when he cried seven thunders uttered their voices.
Sounds like an amazing sight doesnt it?
Now when the seven thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Seal up the things which the seven thunders uttered, and do not write them.”
So these seven thunders that utter their voices when the angel cries out they are saying something, they are giving some information but for some reason God does not want us to have that info. at this time because the angel tells John SEAL UP THOSE THINGS WHICH THE 7 THUNDERS UTTERED AND DO NOT WRITE THEM”
So John hears what the 7 thunders say, he goes to write them down, and he is told… DO NOT WRITE THAT DOWN SEAL UP THOSE THINGS which is really interesting because the book of Revelation is so open with us and it reveals so much to us, and god gives us so much information that it is mysterious why God would want these things hidden.
I’m not sure why God is witholding it from us, but something that these 7 thunders uttered is somthing that we are not supposed to know about and I have often wondered about it but obviously He doesn’t want us to know.
The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand to heaven and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer, but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.
Revelation 10:5
Now this ties in heavily with and Im going to take you there in a moment.
But let me say this some people have misunderstood this statement in 10 where He swears that there shall be time no longer. Some people have said that time will here cease to exist from here on out, thats not what he means at al because after this point we still have the millenium or the thousand year regin of Christ. Well if we have a thousand years then were measuring time so time still exists after the 7th angel sounds the trumpet.
But what He is saying is, there shall be time no longer BUT IN THE DAYS OF THE SOUNDING OF THE 7th ANGEL WHEN HE IS ABOUT TO SOUND THE MYSTERY OF GOD WOULD BE FINISHED AS HE DECLARED TO HIS SERVANTS AND PROPHETS.
So what He seems to be saying here is that when the 7th angel sounds the time that will be no longer is that there will be no more time remaining until the mystery of God is finished, so when the angel sounds the mystery of God will be finished.
Now I am going to get into what that mystery is but first let’s go to and let’s compare what we have seen so far inn with what we see in Daniel
Daniel 12:1
“At that time Michael shall stand up,
The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people;
And there shall be a time of trouble,
Such as never was since there was a nation,
Even to that time.
And at that time your people shall be delivered,
Every one who is found written in the book.
So verse one right there is just packed with info.
“THERE SHALL BE A TIME OF TROUBLE SUCH AS NEVER WAS SINCE THERE WAS A NATION EVEN TO THAT TIME.”
Well compare that to
For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be.
As Jesus left and was going out of the temple complex, His disciples came up and called His attention to the temple buildings.
We see that trouble and tribulation are often used interchangeably in the Bible for example
2 Corinthians 1
who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
So in He uses trouble and tribulation interchangeably throughout the Bible you will see the words used interchangeably. So when Daniel says there shall be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation even to that time that is the same period of time that he is referring to in when He says ...
So were dealing with the great tribulation well now let’s start the verse and read it again..
“At that time Michael shall stand up,
The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people;
And there shall be a time of trouble,
Such as never was since there was a nation,
Even to that time.
And at that time your people shall be delivered,
Every one who is found written in the book.
“AT THAT TIME MICHAEL SHALl STAND UP, this is talking about Michael the archangel. It says MICHAEL WILL STAND UP AND THERE SHALL BE A TIME OF TROUBLE SUCH AS HAS NEVER BEEN BEFORE.
Well in it mentions the war in Heaven
And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Revelation 12:
This is what is being alluded to in so what the Bible is telling us is that Michael the archangel is going to battle with the devil and the devil is going to be cast down to the earth, and when the devil is cast down to the Earth the Bible says he is going to great wrath because he knows he has but a short time. So when the devil is cast down he knows he has but a short time he goes to persecute the woman whcih brought forth the manchild… we will deal with that later but then it says
Revelation 12:
And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
What do we see in the next chapter
but satan or the dragon making war with the saints through the antiChrist, the dragon or Satan puts the antiChrist in power to make war with the saints to make war with Gods people. That is taking place in chapter 13 we see the mark of the beast and all of that that is known as the great tribulation people are being killed and martyred for their faith in Jesus Christ. They are being beheaded for not taking the mark of the beast and so on and so forth.
So that matches perfectly with the devil is cast out of heaven and he goes to make war with the saints this is what basically initiates the tribulation.
So I don’t want you to be confused last week at the end of chapter 9 we are dealing with those left behind basically what you have is anoverview of events basically a view from the sky at each event that will take place all the way to the rapture and people facing the wrath of God but now here in chapter 10 God does what He always does and He zooms in on specifics, so now we are back to the specifics of what starts the great tribulation for the chruch of JEsus Christ before His return.
“At that time Michael shall stand up,
The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people;
And there shall be a time of trouble,
Such as never was since there was a nation,
Even to that time.
And at that time your people shall be delivered,
Every one who is found written in the book.
Thats obviously talking about those who are saved that will be delivered at that time. So it is a perfect order here, Devil is cast out of Heaven- Great tribulation- then the rapture because look what it says in
And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
Some to everlasting life,
Some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Thats is a resurrection there do you see it?
Daniel 12:
Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.
So in here are the events MICHAEL STANDS UP AND FIGHTS AGAINST THE DRAGON AND CASTS HIM OUT OF HEAVEN WHEN HE GETS DOWN TO THE EARTH HE FIRST GOES OUT TO PERSECUTE THE WOMAN AND THEN REMNANT OF HER SEED THE CHURCH, THAT PERIOD WHERE HE IS PERSECUTING THE SAINTS IS CALLED THE GREAT TRIBULATION AFTER THAT THE SAVED ARE RESURRECTED AND EVERYONE WHOSE NAME IS WRITTEN IN THE LAMBS BOOK OF LIFE IS RAPTURED BUT FIRS THE DEAD IN CHRIST RISE THEN WE WHO ARE ALIVE AND REMAIN ARE CALLED UP TO MEET THEM IN THE AIR.
Now look at verse 4 and let’s see if it ties in with
“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
Now here is the tie in with
Daniel 12:5
Then I, Daniel, looked; and there stood two others, one on this riverbank and the other on that riverbank. And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be?”
Then I heard the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand to heaven, and swore by Him who lives forever, that it shall be for a time, times, and half a time; and when the power of the holy people has been completely shattered, all these things shall be finished.
So what do we have here we have two angels one of them standing on one side of the river and the other standing on the other side of the river. One of them says to the other “HOW LONG SHALL IT BE TILL THE END OF THESE WONDERS?” “HE LIFTS UP HIS RIGHT HAND and his left AND SAID THAT IT SHALL BE FOR A TIME TIMES AND HALF A TIME.
Well whats interesting in what do we see but and angel standing with one foot on the sea and one foot on the land lifting up hishands to Heaven and swearing by Him who lives forever and ever that there shall be time no longer.
So what I believe is that these 2 angels standing on each side of the water, one of them that says it shall be for a time, times and half a time but the other angel we see in Saying there shall be time no longer. So were talking about a 3 1/2 year period between the angel who speaks in and the angel who speaks in the reason I think that is because when the Bible says time times and half a time. Its referring to 31/2 years.
TIME= 1
TIMES= 2
1/2 time
So whats 1+2+1/2= 3 1/2
(finish the verse)
I’ll show you that
You said but I really dont understand anything you just said well join the club because Daniel didnt either
Daniel 12:8
Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said, “My lord, what shall be the end of these things?”
And he said, “Go your way, Daniel, for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
Now the good news for this particular lesson is that were living in the time of the end and
at the very end of the book of Revelation the Bible says
And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand.
Revelation 22:10
So Daniel says wait a minute what shall be the end of these things and God tells him go away Daniel the time is not yet seal up the words until the time of the end, but at the end of Revelation he says SEAL NOT THE SAYING THE SAYINGS OF THE PROPHECIES OF THIS BOOK FOR THE TIME IS AT HAND
So we today with the book of Revelation in our hand can understand what is being said in the book of daniel so the fact that I just read to you from and your having trouble understanding it makes perfect sense because even he didnt know what was eing talked about but when we combine it with the book of Revelation you will understand and if daniel would have had the book of Revelation he would have understood itas well.
Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand.
So god is saying look Daniel you dont understand this now but at the time of the end people will understand it. But is he saying everyone will understand it at the time of the end? No He is saying the righteous will understand it in the time of the end but the wicked shall not understand it even during the time of the end.
so to be able to understand Biblical prophecy you know the first thing you gotta do is be saved, and alot of people the reaosn they don’t understand Biblical prophecy is because they are not saved. But its not just Biblical prophecy they dont understand they dont understand anything the bible declares as wisdom because the prince of the power of the air has blinded thier minds to the truth of Gods word.
the Bible says the natural man recieveth not the thingd of God, for they are foolishness unto him for they are spirituallyt discerned.
I often find that when someone is confused about Biblical prophecy and cannot understand basic simple truths. Tonight is not basic but some are and very basic and they cannot fathom what is being said.
Then in the next 3 verses he gives some very, very specific key info about the end times.
Daniel
From the time the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.
Little earlier in the chapter what did the angel say when he swore by him who liveth forever and ever he said until the end there shall be a TIME, TIMES AND HALF A TIME
3 1/2 years and thismatches perfectly with 11 when it says from the time of the abomination of desolation to the end there shal be 1,290 days.
well just to help us out 1,290 days is 3 1/2 years.
Now go if you would to
Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
And on the wing of abominations shall be one who makes desolate,
Even until the consummation, which is determined,
Is poured out on the desolate.”
So according to at what point in the 7 year period in that 7 years does the aboination take place according to ?
in the midst of the week
now if we compare that to he says if we start FROM the abomination of desolation to the end there shall be 1,290 days. Now before I go any further let’s talk about how the Bible reckons days and months and years and what calendar the Bible uses. From Genesis to Revelation the Bible consitently uses 30 day months, therefore God is not on the same calendar were on because our months are not exactly 30 days are they?
No
Feb. have 28 days, we have alot with 31 and some with 30 therefore our calendar year contains 365 days well in the Bible a year consists of 12 months of 30 days each which makes a year 360 days not 365, but when your using a system that only has 360 days in a year you are not in sync with the Earths rotating around the sun, because howlong does it take the Earth to go around the sun? It takes 365 1/4 days for the Earth to travel around the sun, now 365 days is not in sync with that cycle either which is why every 4 years what do we need? we need a leap year. But every hundred years we dont have leap year, but even our calendar is not perfect and has to have adjustments made to keep us in line with the sun, otherwise over hundreds and hundreds of years those 1/4 days are gonna add up and pretty soonit will be Christmas in july itll be snowing outside and its supposed to be summer time.
Well if your on the Bible’s schedule of time with 12 30 day months your really gonna go out of sync with the sun fast, thats why when you use this system that the bible uses of a 360 day year, 12 30 day months. you must every 6th year add an extra month, because 6 times 5 is 30. So the 5 that your losing every year those add up every 6 years to 30 so you tack on an extra month to make up for that.
The Iranians and persians used this calendar the longest still adding a leap month, just like the bible
god very clearly tells us that one of the purposes of the sun and moon and stars is that they will help us with signs and seasons and days and months and years. So thats why when you study the book of Revelation it is very clear that the first half of Daniels 70 weeks is known for lasting 1260 days but the second half is mentioned as lasting for 1290 days. Why because the second half we have to add that extra month to keep it in line with the stars and moon and so forth.
Thats why the abomination of desolation happens in the middle and from that event to the end there shall be 1290 days.
Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.
“But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days.
so the 2 key numbers given here
1290 days the second half
So what is the 1335 days?
Daniel will rest and stand in his inheritance it is a little more than 3 1/2 years and for Daniel to rise again into his inheritance this is talking about the rapture happening.
Now I know this is confusing but remember by saying that Daniel will be there halfway through and then the tribulation period will increase for 75 days only proves what the Bible has been saying the whole time that the rapture must take place after the AntiChrist comes into full power and wages war against the saints.
Let’s finish Revelation
Revelation 10:5
The angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised up his hand to heaven and swore by Him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there should be delay no longer, but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.
So the mystery of God shall be finished in the days of the 7th angel when he shall begin to sound, so when we talk about the events of the 7th trumpet is the mystery of god finished at the end of the 7th trumpet or at the beginning of the sounding of the 7th trumpet at the beginning right?
So this isn’t the very very end of all things because the trumpet still has to sound and the events still have to unfold whcih we see in 11 so He says the MYSTERY OF GOD SHALL BE FINISHED
WHAT IS THE MYSTERY OF GOD?
For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
Romans 11:25
So the mystery in :;25 is that blindness has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in.
Romans 11:26-
And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written:
“The Deliverer will come out of Zion,
And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob;
For this is My covenant with them,
When I take away their sins.”
Now first of all lets make a note that when it says that all Israel shall be saved its important to get the context of chapters 9-11 of Romans because in
But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.”
So in chapters 9 10 and 11 he already explains how the true Israel are believers in Jesus Christ and how the rest of Israel who have not believed have been broken off of the olive tree they are not part of the nation.
So the mystery being fufilled in is the fullness of the Gentiles being come in, referred to in Romans.
Then I was given a reed like a measuring rod. And the angel stood, saying, “Rise and measure the temple of God, the altar, and those who worship there. But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”
:1-
So right there we see a 42 month period or 1260 day period in which Jerusalem shall lay desolate, and where the holy city shall be trodden under foot by the Gentiles. So when does the city lay desolate? At the abomination of desolation, so the witnesses begin to prophesy when the city is laid desolate and for 42 months they prophecy 1260 days and then the antiChrist wages war with them.
But
And they will fall by the edge of the sword, and be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem will be trampled by Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
So He says there Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles thats exactly what we saw in until the times of the Gentiles be fufilled.
So this is when the 7th angel shall begin to sound.
now listen this is very complicated and i know this is difficult to listen to I wam working on a handout with a timeline and notes where we can go through together and work on these things and hopefully nail them down in your mind. Maybe it will help you to see these things but lets finish up.
Revelation 10:7-
but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets.
Then the voice which I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, “Go, take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the earth.”
So I went to the angel and said to him, “Give me the little book.”
And he said to me, “Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.”
Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter. And he said to me, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.”
So this angel who is standing has a little book in his hand and John is commanded to go and take the little book and eat it and John says give me the book the angel gives him the book he eats the book, the book is in his mouth sweet as honey but when it hits his stomach it is bitter, and he is told to go preach, he is told to go and prophecy again before many nation tounges and kings.
WHAT IS THIS LITTLE BOOK?
because often times in the Bible the concept of eating a book comes up, and its always referring to Gods word like for example
Jesus says man does not live by bread alone but by every word which comes from the mouth of God..
Eating Gods word is a concept throughout the Bible because eating gods word is represented as food, its our daily bread the manna that the Israelites ate is related unto Gods word
Jeremiah said
thy words did I eat
Job said thy words were my neccesarry food, over and over again eating the word of God is reffered to
Ezekiel 2:
But you, son of man, hear what I say to you. Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”
Now when I looked, there was a hand stretched out to me; and behold, a scroll of a book was in it.
So what is Ezekiel told to eat at the end of a roll of a book.
Then He spread it before me; and there was writing on the inside and on the outside, and written on it were lamentations and mourning and woe.
so the book Ezekiel is told to eat at the end of chapter 2 is a scroll containing lamentations mourning and woe and this is a very negative portion of God word, bc it contains lamentations morning and woe. Well the book that Johnis being told to eat in is the same way its the boook that has to do with God’s judgment and wrath upon this Earth and he eats this book and it is in his mouth sweet as honey, why was the book sweet as honey?
Because Gods word is sweet to the mouth,
The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple;
The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.
Psalm 19:7-
So Gods judgments are true and perfect
More to be desired are they than gold,
Yea, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
So Gods word is sweeter than the Honey comb, but why did it make his stomach bitter because of the negative subject matetr. What the Bible is teaching here is that many negative portions of scripture they are sweet to our taste but there are some portions that are hard to stomach but I love every part of the word of God and I believe that there is a blessing teaching the whole counsel fo God not just the portions that are the most entertaining or understandable.
The man of god is told to digest it all the sweet and the bitter and preach the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Here in lies the question of the night
Will you be found in Christ on the day He returns for His church?
ARE YOU PREACHING THE GOSPEL TO THOSE WHO HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT HIS COMING?
Let’s pray
