Amnesia

How Quickly We Can Forget!

Ex

Exodus 15:22–24 ESV

Then Moses made Israel set out from the Red Sea, and they went into the wilderness of Shur. They went three days in the wilderness and found no water. When they came to Marah, they could not drink the water of Marah because it was bitter; therefore it was named Marah. And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”

Isreal has just left the Red Sea experience.

They went three days in the wilderness and found no water.

They came to drink the water of Marah because it was bitter!

And the people grumbled against Moses, saying, “What shall we Drink?”

It took only 3 days to forget

Bitter

Bitter: having a sharp, pungent taste or smell; not sweet.

What do you do when life brings you to a bitter place!

Personal Life

I just thought things would be different… (Career)

I just thought I would be in a different place in life (living situation)

Frustrated about my progress.

Financial situation.

So we try to make our personal life sweet.

So I try to make your relationships sweet.

Hurtful Situations

Family members

Friends

So you try to make your hurtful situations sweet.

On top of all that people will be salty adding more bitterness to your water!

Exodus 15:25–26 ESV

And he cried to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a log, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the Lord made for them a statute and a rule, and there he tested them, saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.”

He takes a Log -

God brought them to a bitter place to teach them a lesson about what true dependence looks like.

When I try to make my life sweet it never seems to get better but bitter.
