Judges 4:1-5:31
Just to fill in the gaps.
We are now about 160 years after the fall of Jericho, Joshua has died along with all those who entered and conquered the land of Canaan.
, Joshua’s charge to the nation, four times they commit to serve God faithfully, v16, 21, 22, 24, J made a covenant v25, sent them all home then J died v29, 110 years old.
the nation asks God who will lead in battle, God tells them Judah, they obey, success . Then in v27 a catalogue of failures, Manasseh, Ephraim, Zebulon, Asher, Naphtali, Dan didn’t drive out the nations completely, look at . Failure to utterly destroy the nations led to Israel living among them and adopting their practices, their god.
Disobedience leads to defeat, rebellion leads to raiders. Pattern of rebellion, judgement, rescue, deliverance, many judges or deliverers raised up each time, they go back to their sinful ways.
