After years of separation, Jacob’s family is finally reunited. Jacob, his sons, and all their wives and children have set out from Canaan to join Joseph, and after many years of waiting, it seems God really is fulfilling his promise to Abraham, making his descendent as numerous as the stars in the sky. There’s just one problem: they’re moving out of the promised land, to settle in a land that is not their own, and in which they are seen as strangers. What’s going on? Has God changed his mind, or decided not to fulfill part of his promise after all? This week, we’ll consider how God's plans are far greater than we could ever imagine, always working in innumerable ways to fulfil the promises he has made - and which he always keeps.
