Why Though? (PRACTICAL)

Why a Bible Study though???
Isn’t that what we do on Wednesdays?
Why not just invite someone to youth group?
You should definitely invite your friends, we need the community and fellowship that a youth group provides.
However, a youth group setting isn’t generally conducive to asking and answering deep philosophical questions.
This is one major reason I believe we should be doing Bible studies with others, specifically the lost.
We need to meet them right where they are.
For those that are asking...
Why don’t you just do a Bible study for me and my friends?
I would be more than happy to join you
However, peer to peer interaction is potentially much more impactful and organic
I remember when I was younger I would try and hide who I really was from adults, but I was much more willing to have real talk with my peers.
I didn’t want to ask a dumb question or seem weak

WHY THOUGH? (BIBLICAL)

Now lets look at Biblically why we should be having Bible Studies.
Why Do A Bible Study?
Ultimately we want to see the lost come to Christ.
We do this by carrying out the great commandment ()and great commission ()
I believe starting a Bible study is one of the easiest ways to get into a conversation with the lost about Jesus.
Because God speaks to man through His Son, the Word of God.
Hebrews 1:1–2 KJV 1900
1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
That would be awesome! We have a few extra bedrooms if you guys want to
We know that the Son is the Word of God
Because God speaks to people through Jesus ChristJohn 1:1
John 1:1–2 KJV 1900
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:1–2 KJV 1900
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:14 KJV 1900
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:1
If we want God to speak to our friends and fellow students then we must speak the Word of God into them.
This is done by reading the Bible and quoting scripture.
Anything apart from the Word of God is useless
Because hearing the Bible produces faith
Romans 10:13–17 KJV 1900
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17 KJV 1900
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The Bible clearly states that all that is necessary for salvation is to call upon the name of the Lord, but the lost world need to hear this truth in order to be saved. Makes since right?
You don’t know what you’ve never heard
Therefore, we share this truth with the world
Saving faith comes through the hearing of the Word of God.
This does not mean that hearing the Word of God saves, however, it will produce faith in the hearer.

How Though?

I believe starting a Bible study is one of the easiest ways to get into a conversation with the lost about Jesus, and then you will be able to keep the conversation going.
Think about it, if
Simply ask a lost friend if they would want to meet up for a weekly Bible study.
Most will say no, thats ok. Don’t get discouraged.
Start with one, It can easily turn into more once you are established, curiosity will take over.
Just remember God simply asks us to be obedient to His call to go to the world.
Leave the hard part to Him, He will do the saving
“How many people would get saved if they knew how?”
After you get someone who is interested figure out a good time and place to meet consistently.
Meeting weekly is best
If you do not set up a regular meeting time then it can easily slip away.
This is a perfect opportunity to get the gospel out.
At this point they have given you permission to talk about Jesus with them.
It can easily turn into more once you are established, curiosity will take over.
Don’t be afraid to share it.
Pretty awesome
Open the Bible and allow the Holy Spirit to speak
It really is that easy.
As you read the Bible the Holy Spirit will guide and direct the conversation exactly where it needs to go.
John 16:13 KJV 1900
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
John 16:
John 14:26 KJV 1900
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
God gave us the mission, don’t you think He will enable you to accomplish it?
All it
Pray about it, consider the impact you can have for the kingdom!
Why would you say it is important to read the Bible with the lost?
Would you consider doing a Bible study with your classmates?
What are some area that you see will hinder you from doing a Bible study?
