Do you sometimes wonder if God is listening?
Is He really real?
Does He really have plans to save, to deliver, to set free, and to heal?
Will He really forgive sin, and turn things around?
Chapter 62 is themed like the other chapters in the close of Isaiah.
It looks forward to the future.
There is debate about exactly when, but I believe these things point to the 1000 year reign of Christ that is predicted in the Revelation.
Other people say these things are symbolic.
Other people see the fulfillment as being heaven.
However you view the verses that we will study today, there are principles in them that we can learn from, claim, and count on today.
God plans to save His People and make them righteous.
God is going to stay in it on Jerusalem’s behalf and on ours
He is also going to stay in on our behalf.
Righteousness and Salvation.
We don’t gain salvation by being righteous.
We gain righteousness by being saved.
Salvation produces righteousness…
When I am saved I am positionally right with God, and God wants my practice to match my position.
We often think of heaven as the end result of our salvation, but righteousness is the end result.
Think of it this way; Will we sin when we get to heaven?
NO.
So if we are saved, and we know we are going to heaven when we die… a place where we will no longer sin, we should desire to be righteous now.
STOP skating as close to sin as you can.
Note the language of this passage.
Righteousness that shines brilliantly.
PEOPLE
God wants us to call on Him to do what He has promised
Watchmen never rest.
They stay on alert… Ready to sound the alarm.
These watchmen are prayer warriors, never ceasing to remind God of what HE HAS PROMISED.
This is not a reminder because God has forgotten or could some how break a promise.
This reminder is communication.
It is faith.
It is dependence on God.
It is relationship.
The promise was that they would have what was theirs.
God would not let it be taken.
God wants us to be urgently watching and waiting for what He has promised.
Everything about this points to urgent preparation.
It reminds me of the parable Jesus told about the foolish virgins who had not prepared for the bride groom to show up and were left out.
IF you don’t know Jesus, and you are putting it off, it is urgent.
Time is short.
If you do know Jesus, you have a mission.
Its not about living life for yourself.
Its about living life in light of those who are perishing around you.
Its about proclaiming to the ends of the earth.
Salvation is coming.
His reward is with Him.
By the way, Revelation says almost the same thing about the soon return of Jesus.
He is coming soon and His Reward is with Him!
