CHARACTERISTICS OF A GODLY CONGREGATION Text: Psa 96:5,6 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.6 Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Introduction: You can walk into church buildings today and find many unusual or perhaps impressive things. Its decorations may be elaborate or simple. Its facilities may be clean and immaculate. It may have plain windows or stained-glass ones. There may be mourners’ benches in each row, or there may be just plain folding chairs to sit on. When Solomon began building the temple, he wanted to make it the best; yet, he realized even the best and costliest temple could not contain God. As fundamental Baptists, we always emphasize that this building we meet in is not the church. It houses the church—the body of believers—when any of them are in it.
