Countering Culture: Dealing with Sexual Sin

We need to DEAL with sin!

In dealing with sin, we need to be CONSTRUCTIVE, not DESTRUCTIVE.

Embrace EXHORTATION.

Reject anything OPPOSITE.

We need a GOAL of RESTORATION

Our HEARTS must want the affected party to be RESTORED

This requires a spirit of MEEKNESS. One of restraint and SELF-CONTROL.

People will respond to COMPASSION much more than they will to “righteous indignation”

We need a MINDSET of PATIENCE

Change doesn’t happen OVERNIGHT

Chances are, you won’t see the KIND of change you want right away.

Instead of growing FRUSTRATED, continue to encourage and facilitate GROWTH and CHANGE.

We need a HEART of LOVE, GRACE, and MERCY

Love brings CHANGE. Hate brings RESISTANCE.

If we LOVE one another, we will be gracious and merciful like GOD is to us.

Love should FUEL our efforts to restore the brother/sister who has fallen into sin. Mercy and grace should be our METHODS.

This needs to be a HOSPITAL not a MORTUARY
