The Bible and Mark

The Bible is the Christian Holy Book
It has 66 books divided into two parts: an Old Testament and a New Testament
The Old Testament is about everything before Jesus Christ while the New Testament is everything after Jesus Christ
There are many different kinds of books in the Bible: law, prophet, poetry, history, letters
Mark is one of five books in the New Testament that are called history - the first four are all called the Gospels
The Gospels tell the story of Jesus from different perspectives
Even though Mark is the second Gospel, it was actually written first by Mark
Verse 1 introduces the book:
The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; Mark 1:1
Who is God?
God is creator Gen 1:1
He is eternal Psalm 90:2
God is a trinity
We cannot fully understand God Psalm 145:3
He is one God but 3 persons Matthew 3:16
Who is Jesus?
Jesus is God’s son
Being God’s son, He is equal to God John 8:59; Philippians 2:5
One hundred percent man John 1:14; Luke 2:7; Luke 2:40; John 4:6; John 19:28; Matthew 4:2; Luke 23:46
One hundred percent God John 1:1
Jesus is the savior of man 1 Timothy 4:10
What is the Gospel?
In the beginning, God had a relationship with man Genesis 3:8
In the beginning, God made man
Man fellowshipped with God
Man sinned against God
God gave man one rule Genesis 2:17
Man broke that rule Genesis 3:1-7
We still sin against God
We still break God’s commandments Romans 3:23
What commandments?
Ten Commandments Exodus 20:1-17
But God loved us and sent His son Romans 5:8
God wants us to have a relationship with him, but He cannot because of our sin
Our sin has not only broken the relationship but there is a punishment - death Romans 6:23
Not just physical but spiritual
But Jesus took our punishment
Jesus died on the cross
He did not have any sin, yet paid our penalty 2 Corinthians 5:21
If we will admit our sin and believe in Him, He will save us Romans 10:9-10
He will forgive our sins

Have you trusted in Jesus as savior?
