THE RANGE OF PRAYER Vs 18
Two words for prayer used here for prayer.
“Prayer”
“supplication”
The reason for the different words used here, as well as the word “all” is to demonstrate the variety and range of types of prayers that should have their place in our lives as believers.
Prayer - general word for prayer
Prayer - general word for prayer
-used of any general request toward God.
Supplication - is a more specific request to God.
So this broad range
…from the specific needs to the broad sweeping prayers and everything in between have their place in our prayer life.
-general public prayers
-private prayers for a deep needs in the privacy of our prayer closets
-Time when we are deliberate in our prayer lives…plan our prayers
-Other times when we are spontaneous and pray as the words come to us.
-eyes closes head bowed
-Eyes open hands raised.
-Some people act like there is a specific way you should stand or posture your should take when praying....the Bible does not tell us there.
-It does not matter if you praying standing, sitting, kneeling or lying down...
-There is nothing more powerful about your prayers because you kneel or clothes your eyes...
-But what does matter is that you are a person of prayer...
-That you realize the importance of prayer in your life...
-The big…the small…general…the specific…they all matter....
-they are all precious to God’s ear....lifting your voices to God in prayer...
II.
THE REGULARITY OF PRAYER
“praying at all times”
-Prayer should be an active part of our lives...
-For any and all situations…you can always be assured…that you will never go wrong by praying…
-Our tendency is to fix it....
-A problem or issue or situation shows up…and we say…here let me fix that real quick...
-That is not always a wrong thing today, but sometimes it can be.
-Sometimes by “fixing it” in our power in our way…we rob God of His Glory...
-Sometimes it is suggested that we pray about a situation…and someone may voice the idea that we should do more than pray!
-I totally get what they mean...
-But lets be quick to pray first...
-”You can do more than pray after you pray, but you cannot do more than pray until you pray”
SO WHEN SHOULD YOU PRAY?
THE ANSWER IS YES...
…YOU SHOULD PRAY...”AT ALL TIMES”
-The jews has times of prayer scheduled...
-When Christ came…all that changed..

IT IS ALWAYS APPROPRIATE TO PRAY....
WHEN MAN WORKS…MAN WORKS…BUT WHEN MAN PRAYS....GOD WORKS...
A person may be a Bible school or seminary graduate, a pastor or a missionary, but his deep knowledge of and relationship to God are measured by his prayer life.
AND YOUR DEPTH IN YOUR CHRISTIAN WALK CAN BE MEASURE BY THE REGULARITY OF YOUR PRAYER LIFE...
-You can know the Bible inside and out…know all the stories…all the verse…all the theology, but your relationship to God can be accurately measured by your prayer life…not your memorization of facts.
The call here is for us to pray at all times....
-not an expectation for your to pray every second
-that is not what the early church, the apostles, or Christ modeled for us.
-The expectation is to live with a consistant inclination toward prayer....
-temptation comes…we pray for help
-pain comes…relief
-when blessing comes…we praise God for it
-When trouple comes…we life our voices to our rescurer
-When sickness comes…we seek his healing hand
-When decisions have to be made…we seek his guidance
-When wisdom is needed....we ask God for wisdom from above
-When sin comes....we pray and repent before God
-WHen the impossible comes…we pray to the God of endless possibilities...
BECUASE WE MAN WORKS…MAN WORKS…BUT WHEN MAN PRAYS…GOD WORKS.
