And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Rev. 20:
STANDING BEFORE GOD
STANDING BEFORE GOD
WHEN WE STANDING BEFORE GOD
WHEN WE STANDING BEFORE GOD
Introduction. At the end of this age several things must come to pass …
Jesus will return to gather His own
Jesus will return to gather His own
(a) As He left ()—as He promised () …
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
(b) This is the first resurrection, v. 5–6 …
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1 thess.
Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
2. The manifestation of works— …
3. The Tribulation—Millennium, v. 4–6 …
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
4. The Final Judgment—WE STAND BEFORE GOD …
(a) This is the time when “every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord …”
(b) This is the “Great Day,” the Day of the Lord …
I. WE SHALL STAND BEFORE GOD …
1. God, whose face no man can see and live …
2. God, whose glory was revealed to Isaiah … …
In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said,
Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts:
The whole earth is full of his glory.
And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
3. God, Who is omniscient and omnipotent …
4. God, whose WORD is the final authority … Interpretations and opinions will not count here …
5. God, who is altogether holy and righteous …
6. God, who created the earth—and also shall destroy it …
II. WHEN WE STAND BEFORE GOD …
II. WHEN WE STAND BEFORE GOD …
1. The destiny of Christians was sealed at Calvary … But they will be there, v. 4 …
2. Every person will be there, v. 12–13 …
3. We will be there …
III. WE SHALL STAND BEFORE GOD …
III. WE SHALL STAND BEFORE GOD …
1. Christians shall hear, “Come, ye blessed of my Father …” () …
Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
2. All others shall hear,
(a) “I never knew, depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” () …
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
(b) “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” …
3. These are cast into Hell, v. 14–15 …
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Conclusion:
There will be no mercy here—only judgment …
1. Pronunciation of the sentence of death …
2. Separation—from God, loved ones, friends …
3. THIS IS WHY JESUS GAVE HIS ALL—that you may avoid the second death …
