Introduction: I am not who I want to be yet, but I am not who I once was!
For a saved child of the King, this is a true statement.
For some of you here today, you are still the same…lost, separated from God because you haven’t put your trust and faith in His Son!
You may be saying today, I’m not lost, I don’t think I’m lost, really I’m not sure.
If you aren’t sure about being saved, then you can be sure you are lost.
That is not God’s intention for your life.
You Are Alive
You WERE dead
Not physically dead but spiritually dead
What’s the difference between a body that’s been dead 3 years and a body that’s been dead 3 minutes.
Nothing they are both dead.
There is an absence of life
You WERE under control of Satan
acted like a lost person- of the world
sons of disobedience instead of sons of God
give into the flesh instead of crucifying the flesh
All these were who you were, not who you are now
Why then do we continue to try and return to the person we were before?
Paul says it best in his letter to the Romans when he says
Transition: You see you were dead but now alive, buried with Him in baptism raised in newness of life.
Quit going back to the corpse and start being the new creation.
You are not where you want to be, but you aren’t what you once were.
You are alive!
Not only are you alive but...
You Are Forgiven
But God- Most absolute statement in this passage.
Even when you were at your worst, the Bible says “BUT GOD”
Merciful
Loving
Because Jesus lives, so can we
raise up, dusted off, made clean
eksozo means bring safely to
forever and ever not until you mess up again: you have been saved means in the language that Paul writes in is the perfect tense meaning an ongoing everlasting.
he has given you a seat at His table
to be invited into the king’s palace was an honor
This age and the next to come but it takes Faith!
Faith on our part and of the finished work of His part
You Are His
His creation- he made you special, unique, even twins are different
he made you for a reason- you have a special purpose on this earth
he made you to worship, to love, to lead, and to follow
he created you to be more than you are today.
He made a path for you to follow
the path he has laid down for you from the beginning of time
he’s just waiting on you to get on board
So who are you today?
Have you put your eternity in the hands of the Creator?
Have you slidden off the path that he has planned for you?
Maybe you don’t know what your path is.
Maybe your here today looking for a home, a place you can start your journey with God.
Whatever the case may be you car believe that when you call on Jesus and ask for his forgiveness and put your faith in Him, you will be saved and you can know that you are alive, you are forgiven and you are His.
