The Canary and the Law

Just as the canary is taken down into the mine shaft in order to alert the miners of the presence of poisonous gas, so the law points to the reality of sin. Yet the canary does not have the ability to rid the air of the gas. In the same way the law does not take away sin, but merely reveals its presence.
