Life or Death in Repentance

Prepare for Heave
We need to be heavenly minded now more than ever!
What does it mean to be heavenly minded? To be focused on what Christ is trying to do on this earth..

10 For xgodly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

10 For the sorrow that is according to the will of God produces a repentance without regret, leading to salvation, but the sorrow of the world produces death. (NRSV)
What is the difference between Godly sorrow and wordly sorrow? The first produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, the second produces death. The difference between godly grief and worldly grief is that the first issues in repentance while the second ends with remorse.
Kruse, C. G. (1987). 2 Corinthians: an introduction and commentary (Vol. 8, p. 142). Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press.
Godly Grief:
Renders true repentance that brings life through salvation in Jesus Christ
No matter what we have done or are currently doing Jesus can forgive us and remove the bondage from sin withing our lives
;

5 But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.

12 Wherefore, though I wrote unto you, I did it not for his cause that had done the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of God might appear unto you.

Paul was showing love to the Corinthians and wanted to show his care for the Corinthians in the sight of God
His job was not to prove who was right or who was wrong
Who wanted to challenge the Corinthians to pursue God with godly grief in their wrongdoings!

So although I wrote to you, it was not for the sake of the offender nor for the sake of the one offended, but that your earnestness on our behalf might be made known to you in the sight of God.

Paul wrote Chapter 7 with a zeal to see godly repentance. It was not for his own vindication but for the Church that he so loved. Paul represents Christ in this manner. It’s not about me but it’s all about you Jesus.
What is needed in our life when an elder or our Pastor corrects us? Godly repentance, that is a remorse that leads to change in ones life. Worldly Remorse equates to feeling bad about something but never doing anything to fix the evil within our life!
Why is it important to obey our elders?

5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

What is an elder? gives us context, Paul was discussing elders appointed in the Church.
Even I have to be submitted to an elder within my life. This elder is Pastor Noles. It is important to understand that submission brings unity within the Church and defeats the ugly pride that tries to root itself within our heart.
