Intro - A man introducing himself to another man let him know his name and asks, “What do you do?” The wife answers the question by saying her name and that she is a Christian cleverly disguised as a wife, mom, and business person.
Luke 5:1–11 KJV 1900
And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.
Jesus saw the needs..
The real need… The Word.
…my words are Spirit and Life…
…blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled…:6
EVEN WHEN WE DON’T KNOW WHAT WE NEED, HE DOES AND HE’LL SUPPLY.
God will meet all our needs. He will be what we need.
He was a ram in a thicket for Isaac.
He made a way where there was no way for Moses.
He was a sling and five smooth stones for David.
He’s a family man who cared about him mother while hanging on a cross.
He stopped the sun for Joshua.
He redeemed us with His Son’s blood.
2. All the people that came to hear the word had needs to be met...
…Jesus had compassion on the people...
....miracles are often attached to His mercy...
…He enlisted others to help with the harvest...
You may feel unqualified. He qualifies the called.
He delivers us to be deliverers...
Esther was favored to be the means a nation would be spared.
Zacchaeus was deliered and given a second chance to become a bishop of 500 churches.
Man from Gadarenes who lived with Legion was delivered to set 10 citites on fire for God.
Moses was pulled out/drawn out of the river so he could lead the Exodus out of Egypt.
3. Jesus entered into Peter’s ship and prayed him.
Jesus told Peter to launch out a little.
Jesus then taught/Peter waited after an already long night.
After Jesus left speaking, He tells Peter to launch out into the deep and let down his nets.
4. Peter’s response ‘Master, We have toiled all night and taken nothing, nevertheless at your word, I will let down the net’
Peter obeyed but called him master (chief, commander, overseer or master).
EVEN IN MOMENTS OF RELUCTANCE OR APPREHENSION, HE WILL LEAD US INTO GREATER CONFIDENCE IN HIM.
Obedience comes through humility.
1 Peter 5:6 KJV 1900
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
1 Peter 5:5 KJV 1900
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
5. The blessing of obedience
The catch broke the nets. It filled both boats not just the nets
The boats were 30long x 8wide x 4high - almost 1000 cubic feet
It was so great they need PARTNERS to help them handle the blessing.
Your obedience will bless others.
6. Jesus reveals himself in the miracle to Peter.
During Peters repentance, NOW, he calls HIM LORD (Kurios - Greek form of Hebrew Adonai).
7. Your blessing is going to be so big you need partners to pull it in but no so big it distracts you from the greatest prize. JESUS.
GOD WANTS TO GET US TO MORE THAN ENOUGH SO WE OPERATE OUT OF OVERFLOW.

Those who recognize their sinful unworthiness and embrace Jesus as the truthful, omniscient, omnipotent, holy, and merciful God are the ones He reconciles to Himself. He forgives their sin, takes away their fear of judgment that sin causes, and commissions them to the great task of evangelization, of catching men alive for the kingdom of God.
