Cant Legislate Morality

As long as
there are a lot of laws on the books
murder, robbery, drugs, abuse of many kinds
guns in schools, courts, hospitals, ect
prohibition, drunk driving
when has a law stopped someone intent on doing it?
when was the last time there was a school shooting at a christian school-university,
a true believer abusing his wife or children
a believer who was not a good member of society
a Christian should be known for their love
a believer is a new creation, being sanctified into the image of Jesus
indwelt by the Holy Spirit-
only then, after salvation can a person truly change
Exodus 19:8 AV
And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.
covenant the deal
after salvation can a person truly change
BY WORKS they could never keep

Again they did evil

Judges 10:6 LEB
And again, the Israelites did evil in the eyes of Yahweh. They served the Baals, the Ashtaroth, the gods of Aram, Sidon, Moab, and the gods of the Ammonites and Philistines; they abandoned Yahweh and did not serve him.
so here we are as low as can be
God again turned them over

regret touches our emotions
we feel bad but no change
Judas,
Judas,
Killed himself instead of coming to Jesus

how many times someone cried over their sin, but time reveals they are not really saved, time always tells

repentance involves a recognition of our wrong relationship to our God and a reordering of our lives around Him. Warren Wirsby
Progression of events for a Child of God
God chastises because of sin/ Spirit convicts of sin
regret possible at first, then
Repentance - getting rid of the sin
Relying on the Spirit to change us
Victory/ Deliverance
Resulting in a changed life
Conclusion
Resulting in a changed life
Leader dies, spiral downward because its their nature
are you being Chastised?

The grief we are causing the Lord

Judges 10:16 LEB
So they removed the foreign gods from their midst and served Yahweh; and he could no longer bear the misery of Israel.
Isai 63
Isaiah 63:9 AV
In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
the misery we suffer because of our spiritual rebellion will cause pain to the Lord
Jesus to Saul “why are you persecuting me”
God feels our pain,
Is grieved when we sin
Is grieved when we ignore Him
Ignoring God is how the downfall began
Deuteronomy 8:10 AV
When thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless the LORD thy God for the good land which he hath given thee.
