Why do you believe what you believe? We are bombarded with bad news it seems. We see on TV and online instantaneously whenever something bad happens. The evening news is full of criminal activity, political chaos, and tragedy after tragedy, nothing but bad news.
In this world of seemingly bad news, we exist as a church to share the good news. The word gospel is just that, it means good news. We indeed have good news to share that God has given us Jesus, the Hope of the world.
We believe in the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus! Listen carefully as the choir shares with you in song the Gospel.
Song: The Gospel
John 3:16 NIV84
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
We have hear this all our lives. The greatest love ever portrayed was when our Heavenly Father loved us so much that He gave His One and only Son, so that only by believing in Him, you and I could have everlasting life.
This verse reminds me of the truth of how an instrument of death provided a powerful gift of life.
It’s a beautiful, terrible cross.
Song: Beautiful, Terrible Cross
Yes, it is beautiful, it is terrible. Yet because of God’s great Mercy, He provided atonement for you and me.
Ephesians 2:4 NIV84
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
You see, God’s design for you and me is to have fellowship with Him. That is why we were created.
God’s plan for us is to have peace and life. God loves you!
John 3:16 NIV84
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Our problem is that we are separated from a Holy God.
Romans 3:23 NIV84
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
God’s Remedy is to provide a bridge that helps us go from being separated to Him.
The cross bridges the gap of separation. When Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave, He paid the penalty for our sins.
1 Peter 2:24 NIV84
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.
Our response is simply to receive Christ.
You can cross the bridge into God’s family with you receive Christ by personal invitation.
John 1:12 NIV84
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
To receive Christ you need to do 4 things:
Admit your spiritual need, “I am a sinner.”
Repent and be willing to turn from your sin.
Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross.
Receive, through prayer, Jesus Christ into your heart and life.
Revelation 3:20 NIV84
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
Romans 10:13 NIV84
for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
What to Pray: Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invited You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust You and follow You as Lord and Savior.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
Song: The Mercy Tree
Jesus said you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.
John 8:32 NIV84
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John
John 14:6 NIV84
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
John
Song: Truth Is
The Good News is never meant to be kept to yourself.
Jesus commissioned His disciples to go into all the world and preach the Good News of the Gospel. Because of their willingness to fulfill this mission and follow the resurrected Christ, you and I have the same responsibility to those around us. We need to Tell it All!
Song: Tell It All
