1. Spiritual Growth and the Word of GOD

Most of us in this room should be familiar with “Boil telephone porridge”.
Use this illustration to show the relationship between loving someone and knowing someone.
The Scriptures teaches this truth: XXXX
GOD reveals Himself that He maybe our GOD and we His people.
Examples:
Book of Ezekiel
Proverbs?
Psalms?
In fact it is in all the 66 books of the Bible. 2 Tim 3:16.
The whole of Scripture reveals to us;
The mind of Christ.
The will of YWHY
The Person of YWHY
That we might know Him and to worship Him alright and not according to our imagination.
That we might know His plan of salvation.

2. A night devotion from .

For tonight’s devotion, before we end the day and in preparation for tomorrow’s worship, we shall look at .
Very often we go to church on a Sunday with a troubled and distracted spirit.
In this Psalm, we see a troubled Psalmist with an implied case of insomnia, v8.
He had trouble sleeping because;
He was in distress - v1
He was shamed because of his human enemies, v2.
He was angry, v4.
There were many thoughts that kept going round and round on his head, v4.
There are many doubters and they asked “Who will show us good?”, v6.
Conclusion; this is life.
How did the Psalmist cope with his situation?
Did he use “positive thinking?”
What did the Psalmist do and what can we learn from him so that we can echo his conclusion in;
Psalm 4:8 KJV 1900
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: For thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.
Notice the “I will both lay me down”.
I will both lie down and sleep.
I will do 2 things.
will lie down and I will sleep.
Lie down and sleep - are 2 very precious things in life.
The Psalmist was able to lie down and sleep.
Because it was the LORD who make him to dwell in safety.
“for you alone....make me.
How to understand this?
What is happening here?
GOD does make all these to come true
We also must have the eyes to see GOD in action.
The Psalmist had his responsibility - to trust and obey.
It was something he did that he able to lay down in peace and have a peaceful sleep.
