1 Chronicles
David said further to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and act. Do not be afraid or dismayed; for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.
The story of Samson brings us the insight of God’s power that rests on someone to oversee the protection of the Will of the Father. Samson was called, yet he struggled. He loved God, yet loved women (multiple women) too. The flesh failed when the soul strayed. But in we see how in the midst of failure, God still wasn’t finished with Samson.
The story of Samson brings us the insight of God’s power that rests on someone to oversee the protection of the Will of the Father. Samson was called yet struggled. He loved God yet loved women too. The flesh failed when the soul strayed. But here
Samson’s strength came from his hair. He cherished it, he found his identity in it. As much as he stood in the face of danger, his security was in his hair. He cherished his hair, his false sense of strength.
How often in life do we get a false sense of security in something that is earthly, or material, or just the normal way of life. How often is our source of strength what the world does instead of what God wants.
Saul in tries to equip david with the armour that he owned. Saul believed that the only way to defeat goliath was in the natural ways of war. Sword, sheild, breastplate, helmet, and guantlets. But in the midst of the battle, David knew that his source of strength is not what the normality of life insists, but it is through the dependance in God. David shed the armour, he rid himself of the things of the world and walked confidently in God’s strength.
How often do we go back to the things that has worked before when God gives us new things everyday? New wisdom, new mercy, a new song, renewed strength. If we find ourself finding our source in the ways of the world, or the ways of others, or the ways of what used to work, then we are placing our source of strength in stuff that is not of God.
God’s not done with you.
God’s not done with you.
You see, God didn’t cause Samson to fall in love with delilah. God didn’t cause Samson to loose his strength. God didn’t cause Samson to be captured by the philistines, but God used it to his glory. God used samson’s fall to bring Samson back to himself.
As God used Samson to judge and protect His people. Samson was judge for 20 years and was in position because of God. But he struggled, tempted, failed, and flat out disobeyed. And God in his mercy allowed Samson to live the life he desired. But in the end, God used Samson’s failure to bring about dependance and relationship with Him.
God’s Not done with you
God’s Not done with you
When all seems hopeless, as if we have let God down one to many times, as if God will never use us or come to us or revive our situations, God’s Not Done.
God’s not done with you. He’s not done in your situation. He’s not done with your family. He’s no done with your marriage. He’s not done with your calling. He’s not done with you. He’s not done with you. He’s not done with you.
6 There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.
He is working in your life. Paul writes that God who has saved you, made all things new, will keep working on and in you until your faith is made sight. Paul doesn’t say God will keep working on you as long as you do good things, don’t struggle, don’t give into temptation, don’t fail in anyway. No, God will keep working no matter what. When we choose to serve Him he does and work and continues to work. God’s not done with you.
God is going to use what your going through to bring you closer to Him. The faster you turn it over to God, the faster God brings His glory out in your life.
God’s Not done with His will
God’s Not done with His will
When Samson put his own ambitions ahead of God’s will Samson failed to see his purpose. He was wrapped up in insignificant things and stop realizing that he was to judge and protect God’s people. God allowed so much death and slaughter in the old testament to ensure that the family lineage of Jesus would allow for His birth. In the atmosphere of failure, God protected the future.
God’s not done with his will; He is still saving the Lost. He is still using people in the midst of their failure to proclaim his faithfulness. Yes you may have missed opportunities with your children to bring them closer to God. You may feel like you failed as a parent, or spouse, or friend, or whatever but God is not done with His will. He is not done with his promises. He is not done with His truth. He is not done with His love and grace.
20 Then David said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous and do it. Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you. He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.
6 I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.
God can and will use your failures to bring others to Himself. Look at Jimmy Swaggart. Look at Benny Hinn.
Come back to His plans.
Come back to His plans.
When Samson realized that God had to be his source of strength, he accomplished more in one blow then all of his life combined. Even though his hair gave him strength, the strength from God alone is like nothing else.
You can be mentally strong, but the strength from God overwhelms. You may be able to do good things, but God makes you able to do great things. You may be able to be a good person, But God and God alone makes you a redeemed person. Righteous and ready for the Kingdom of God. He is the one who makes eternal life in paradise possible.
