In light of Freedom Sunday next week, we’re going to consider the theme of justice in a few of the Psalms – how they both praise the justice of God and pray for the ones who need his justice. Psalms 9-10 form two halves of a single unit, which gives us a beautiful picture of our Righteous Judge and a helpful perspective when faced with injustice. It is a reminder to turn to God when we hear of, read about, or learn of the wickedness of people against other people – to pray for the oppressed and the oppressors – to seek God’s justice. These prayers were written for individuals and for the community, so let’s put them to good use in the coming weeks.
