The Pathway to a fresh walk with God

I will make known the Lord’s faithful love and the Lord’s praiseworthy acts, because of all the Lord has done for us— even the many good things He has done for the house of Israel and has done for them based on His compassion and the abundance of His faithful love. He said, “They are indeed My people, children who will not be disloyal,” and He became their Savior. In all their suffering, He suffered, and the Angel of His Presence saved them. He redeemed them because of His love and compassion; He lifted them up and carried them all the days of the past.

7 make known royal, steadfast love

due to the many good things he has done for Israel because of that love

8 and 9 He intended them to be faithful so he identified with them in their suffering, saved them, redeemed them, protected them, and carried them.

These are descriptions of God’s deeds done for the Nation of Israel during the Exodus

Think of all the wonderful things God has done in your life… in your church.. in your family.

The list should be long. Count your many blessings name them one by one.

Exodus 3:7–8 HCSB

Then the Lord said, “I have observed the misery of My people in Egypt, and have heard them crying out because of their oppressors, and I know about their sufferings. I have come down to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them from that land to a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey —the territory of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites.

Acknowledge Times of Rebellion

Isaiah 63:10 HCSB

But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit. So He became their enemy and fought against them.

These verses make it clear that sin issues are always spiritual issues.

Their rebellion is seen as grieving the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30 HCSB

And don’t grieve God’s Holy Spirit. You were sealed by Him for the day of redemption.

The context of this passage is all about living righteously. Stop lying. Don’t let anger become sin. Don’t give the Devil a foothold to cause harm. Don’t steal, but work. Share with those in need. No foul language, but language to build up. do away with bitterness, anger, wrath, shouting, and slander. All of that grieves the spirit of God.

Note that this says God fought against them when they were in sinful rebellion against Him. Who do you think will win that battle?

Rely on God to Restore

Isaiah 63:11–14 HCSB

Then He remembered the days of the past, the days of Moses and his people. Where is He who brought them out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock? Where is He who put His Holy Spirit among the flock? He sent His glorious arm to be at Moses’ right hand, divided the waters before them to obtain eternal fame for Himself, and led them through the depths like a horse in the wilderness, so that they did not stumble. Like cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord gave them rest. You led Your people this way to make a glorious name for Yourself.

Restoration. God puts them back together. God puts Himself back with them.

Question? What did Israel bring to the table? Nothing. They were broken down rebels. They had nothing to offer. There was nothing they could do.

All the work was done by God.

Eternal fame for Himself

Glorious Name.

Ephesians 2:8–9 HCSB

For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— not from works, so that no one can boast.

God wants all the glory. When we get to the end of ourselves, fall on His face for mercy, and admit what a mess we make. He is in the business of restoration. Sometimes the scars remain. Sometimes the consequences don’t go away. But the most important thing (an ongoing relationship with God) is still there.

Where is your life right now? Is Jesus at the center? Do you know Him? Are you living life to make His fame and name glorious?
