Psalm 1
(The Blessed Man)
There are only two kinds of men on the earth-the blessed man and the cursed man.
There are only two ways or paths to take-God’s way and man’s way.
There are only two destinies after death-eternal life and eternal death.
I. The blessed man
A. What a blessed man must not do (v. 1)
The counsel of the ungodly can be found:
On the Television, on the radio, in the newspaper, in magazines, in the classroom, and in our daily conversations.
Darkness never wants light to shine upon it.
B. What a blessed man must do (v. 2)
A blessed man must delight in the law of the Lord.
The basic meaning of “delight” is to feel great favor towards something.
We should each day meditate on:
- What God says (Psalm 1:2)
- Who God is (Psalm 63:6)
- What God does (Psalm 77:12)
C. The rewards of being blessed (v. 3)
- Fervency
- Fruitfulness
- Flourishing
II. The cursed man (vs. 4-6)
A. No foundation
B. No fruit
C. Nothing to look forward to
D. No fortress
