1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe.
Philippians 3:1
1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you.
Finally: not speaking of time, but a transition to another general subject.
Furthermore:
“rejoice in the Lord”
Paul add “rejoice in the Lord”
a. Christians should always rejoice in the Lord.
Why should we rejoice in the Lord?
b. Because He loves us and He saved us.
c. Rejoicing in the Lord should be real. Not some empty, vain reaction.
“To write the same thing unto you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe”
“To write the same thing”
a. It means it was not trouble, no burden for Paul to so so. Paul’s word to them were from God. A message from God.
b. As the Holy Spirit gave Him the message He wrote it down. It was for the believers at Philippi, but for us today.

“But for you it is safe”
NASB “it is a safeguard for you”
They would face persecution, trails, this letter would them find strength and comfort.
2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.

Beware: Have your eyes on” Mark them, observe them.

Philippians
17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
Dogs: Impure people. Dogs refer to filthy people.
a. Paul is calling them trouble makers.
“evil workers”
Judaizers and other preachers teaching false teaching.
“beware of concision”
Concision means cutting.
NASB :circumcision.
Elab on what they believed about this. That it was part of salvation.
b. These false teachers, evil worker. Beware of them, have no fellowship with them.
3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

3 for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh,
“True circumcision”
talking about true faith.
“which worship God int the spirit”
a. Legal worship (Elab) was an outward worship and consisted in outward acts.
b. True Christian worship is spiritual, flowing from the inward flowing of the Holy Spirit.
c. Old way was mans way. The true way is Gods way.
4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more:

Paul took on the Judaizers on their own ground. Their religiousness, which they mistook for righteousness.
a. There was a time when Paul was more religious then any of them (more Jewish)
b. So his attack on their confidence in the flesh just off the wall attack. He had once been where they were.
c. Paul had done the same thing, and thought he was right. Until He met Jesus.
Philippians 3:
5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;
5 circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the Law, a Pharisee;
“circumcised on the 8th day”
a. Paul talking about himself. This goes back to Abraham.
“of the stock of Isreal”
a. This was the religious name of the nation to which Paul belonged, and it meant much to the religious Jews.
“of the tribe of Benjamin”
a. One of the 12 tribes. There was no Gentile blood in Paul.
Philippians 3:
6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
6 as to zeal, a persecutor of the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless.
Paul talking about what he did to the church, even though they were blameless
7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

8 More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,

Born a Jew, his education, wealth and his social position meant nothing pertaining to salvation.
a. Paul gained nothing from being born a Jew. He gained nothing as a Pharisee. He didn’t believe Jesus while Jesus was her on earth.
b. He didn’t believe Jesus until Jesus spoke to him on the road to Damascus. He was still caught up in religious ways.
c. As far as worldly valve goes, he at one time had everything. Now he has nothing in that view,. “Dung” “Rubbish”
d. He gain now was Jesus.
9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Philippians 3:
9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,

The resurrection of Jesus, the power of it. They, the Jews denied it.
a. Without it there is no salvation.
“fellowship of hi suffering”
Elab the suffering of Jesus. The suffering of Paul.

1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, 2 That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. 3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

Romans
Paul passions for the Jewish people was so great that if he could he would go to hell so they would be saved.
11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
Philippians 3:
11 in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Paul wanted to be as much like Jesus as he could.
