Matthew 3:2 NLT
“Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
The most powerful weapon we have against the enemy in our lives is repentance/confession
The most powerful weapon we have against the enemy in our lives is repentance
The most avoided Christian Discipline is repentance/confession
Repentance is not feeling bad about our sin
Repentance is deciding to do something about it....
Repentance is a decision reflected in an action. (Confession)
We have spent tremendous amounts of time and money on:
Creating world class worship
Creating fancy Sunday services with slick production and seeker friendly attractions
Getting young- attractive- culturally tuned - gifted speakers
Yet the most effective tool against sin and its effects is repentance/confession
James gets specific about it.....
James 5:16 NLT
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
This is exceptionally hard for people to do
People will travel hundreds of miles to go to a conference
People will spend money on books
People will pray and fast
But they will not openly confess their sin to another human being

Corinthians refers to some significant sins:
Those who indulge in sexual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prostitutes, or practice homosexuality, 10 or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people—none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.
11 Some of you were once like that.
How did Paul know that? Because there was public confession of some sort
