Rejoice in the Lord!

Psalm 33:1 HCSB
1 Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous ones; praise from the upright is beautiful.
Rejoice in the Lord...
This is a command.
Ligon Duncan has noted, “The command to sing is the most frequently repeated command in all of Scripture.”
Rejoice
to shout
to call loudly
to give a ringing cry in joy
To Sing! with
Freshness
Skill and
Fervor
So, keep this in mind as we read the rest of the Psalm.
Let’s Pray.
Our Father,
We respond to this command this morning to Rejoice and Sing to You by Rejoicing and Singing to You. We praise You, Lord.
Your work of creation is inseparable from Your Word, for by Your Word You spoke everything into existence. It was not and You have commanded and now it is. “The heavens were made by the word of the Lord.”
We know and understand by Your revelation that You are far more than merely our Maker. You are the Lord of glory and we see Your glory in Your goodness because You love righteousness and justice.
Your will stands against man’s blatant defiance. You “thwart the plans of the peoples. The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of His heart from generation to generation.”
Your discerning gaze is of perfect knowledge, control, and love. “The Lord looks down from heaven, You observe everyone.” Your discerning gaze is altogether prevailing Love of watchful care.
We hope and wait in You because You are our help and shield. You are our help and shield because You are our God. “Our hearts rejoice in You, because we trust in Your holy name.”
“May Your faithful love rest on us Lord, for we put our hope in You.”
Praise to You, Lord! In Jesus name, Amen.
