1. Logos often refers to the actual writings of Scripture or to Christ Himself.
2. Rhema is also often translated as "word" and refers to spoken words or a command.
B. Rhema(Spoken Word) has tremendous power
spoke the world into order and existence in Genesis
in the book of Ezekiel it formed skinews and flesh on the valley of dry bones and caused a great army to come alive
it was used by Jesus to command Lazarus to be raised from the dead!
it was used again by Jesus to heal the centurions servant
Jesus used it again to fight off temptation in the wilderness. He said “It is written man shall not live by bread alone but on every “spoken” word that comes from the mouth of God
We need to use in our fight of spiritual warfare with our enemy-
says...."And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the [spoken] word of God" ( NKJV).

Thesis: Jesus Reigns Supreme over everything else
(NLT)
1 Long ago God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets. 2 And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe. 3 The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.
1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

*Transition*-To know the supremacy of Christ, we need to understand a few things about Jesus...
Last Sunday evening, Pastor Charlie had a great message. It was on forsaking everything to follow Christ and that the person who wasn’t willing to leave behind their mother/father, husband/wife, son/daughter, wasn’t considered worthy to follow Christ. Do we consider Jesus worthy of leaving everything behind to follow Him completely?
If we don’t, then the alternative of what we choose instead of Jesus has become an idol in our hearts. When we come to Christ and ask Him to come into our hearts it’s a beginning of a journey. Unfortunately many Christians today take it as a get out of hell free card. In other words many want Jesus as their savior but, He never becomes the Lord of their life!
There are some traditions that believe that once you come to Christ, that you can never lose your salvation. But, if that’s true(Which it is not) why is the devil fighting Christians so hard? Once saved, always saved is basically telling us that we can come to Christ but, we don’t have to change, that no transformation needs to take place. But, Jesus says be Holy as I am Holy. To LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. And to Love your neighbor as yourself.
To know the supremacy of Christ, we need to understand a few things about Jesus...
1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

Jesus is final revelation of God
In our text it says “Long ago God spoke many times, in many ways, through the prophets and now God speaks through His son”
We seen God speak through the prophets of old giving us a revelation of Himself. Hearing the prophets speak is a lot like having phone conversations with someone we never met. We hear their voices and learn some about them them and we form a mental picture of how they are like. Then we meet them face to face and we get the full picture of how they are like and We can hear God speak them but, when the Son of God became a human people saw God face to face and all those phone conversations through the prophets made perfect sense now.
We see the final revelation of God is shown to us in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the visible image of an invisible God. If we want to know what God is like, we look at Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Jesus said be Holy as I am Holy. The life of Christ displayed a Holy love. The divine image isn’t describing a physical description here but, who God is in His very character.
We see that God is compassionate by the mercy he shows you and me. We see God is just and righteous by the discipline that He gives His own children and the anger He shows at unrighteousness. It was seen in Jesus when called the pharisees a brood of vipers and flipped the money changers tables and said “My Fathers House shall be a house of prayer but, you have made it into a den of thieves. Out with you, as he chased them out with a whip. God is a loving and merciful God but he is also a God of judgment and wrath. He does not tolerate sin. We cannot out run God. Jonah found that out. We can’t hide from God. King David found that out, when he said where shall I go to escape your presence?
We are Created in God’s Image/Sin marred that image
God tells us in Genesis that we are created in God’s image. So what happened? Sin happened. Adam and Eve showed up and they gave in to the temptation of Satan. The father of lies, got one pass them. They ate of the forbidden fruit and the image of God that they were created in became marred and disfigured as they positioned themselves and turned their back on God. The one who created them and loved them from the beginning and had this perfect relationship with them. How do they repay Him? By disobeying him and doing the one thing God asked them not to do. We are fully human only when we are walking in complete obedience to the one who created us. Sin dehumanizes us. God tells us in the book of Romans that the penalty of sin is death but, the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. We see Christians walking around who are grumpy, full of complaints, and sorrow. Then they wonder why their family won’t come to church with them. It’s like the dead walking with the dead. Wake up people. If people dont see the light of life in us then they will see no light to seperate themselves from. For without Holiness no one will see the Lord! Are we reflecting the light of Christ or are we reflecting the darkness of this world?
The Divine grace of God
The Divine grace of God
We have good news though. It’s called the divine conspiracy of the grace of God. Something we can’t understand, that angels can’t comprehend, that God sent us, through His Son. The cross is an image of Gods saving, self emptying, sacrificial Holy love. He made himself nothing and made himself even lower then the angels so he could redeem and restore mankind to Himself.
This is inspite of our disobedience and sin. Even yet while we we’re still sinners Christ died for us. The father draws us to Himself in the grace that goes before. That’s the amazing thing, that God would still love us while we were head deep in the mud of sin. That God would still love us while we were his enemy, taking his name in vain, and serving the Gods of this world. Gods grace is something we don’t deserve and it’s something we can’t earn. God can’t love us anymore or any-less than he already does. It’s a reckless love that leaves the 99 and chases us down.
The Divine Power of the Word of God
The Divine Power of the Word of God
The NKJV says in hebrews 1:3 that “He upholds all things by the word of His power”.
The New Testament includes two Greek words often translated "word" in English. Logos often refers to the actual writings of Scripture or to Christ Himself.
Rhema is also often translated as "word" and refers to spoken words or a command.
Now this is the “Rhema” word. The spoken word of God. It has tremendous power. it...

YOU:
Is Jesus reigning supreme in your life? Or are there idols that have replaced God on the throne of your heart? He is worthy to be your king because of who he is, His grace, and the power of His Word. There is no one like our God. So I invite you to come and lay your idols at His altar.
WE:
I challenge you church if there is anything hindering your walk with Christ to get rid of it and see what God will do with someone fully surrendered to His will and His purposes!
