SCRIPTURE: Zechariah 4

THEME: God’s work done God’s way in God’s strength has God’s support and God’s blessing.

                                God uses our weakness to show His strength.

                For almost 20 yrs. Zerubbabel had been frustrated in his attempts to build the Temple.

                Assurance is now given by vision and direct prophetic address.

                God in His strength and power is enough for any task.

In our own strength, we will FAIL.

We have limited resources.

We face overwhelming obstacles.

We don’t always know what to do.

Despondent in his work because of the OPPOSITION to it, the GREATNESS of the task, and the SMALL MEANS to carry it out, Zerubbabel needed encouragement.

YOUR GOD IS GOD – MAMA HEIDI

In 1994, Heidi and Rolland Baker arrived in Mozambique amidst the hard times following the Mozambique Civil War. Even the Red Cross trucks were not safe and were bombed. During the hard times, sometimes even threatened by death, Heidi and Rolland experienced amazing miracles of healing for the blind, crippled and those affected by AIDS.

Man’s weakness is no hindrance in the work of God, because He supplies the power of the Spirit of God.

WE CAN’T MANUFACTURE THE POWER OF GOD, WE CANT MANAGE THE POWER OF GOD, WE CAN’T MANIPULATE THE POWER OF GOD, WE CAN ONLY MARVEL AT THE POWER OF GOD.

ACTS 8:14-23—SIMON THE MAGICIAN WANTS TO PURCHASE THE POWER OF GOD

God doesn’t need us but He chooses to work in and through us to reveal His power.

Heart of a Soul Surfer

Bethany Hamilton, a 13-year-old girl destined for a successful surfing career, lost her arm to a 14-foot tiger shark on Oct. 31, 2003. The attack didn’t stop this determined Soul Surfer from giving up. Instead, it compelled her to discover her purpose in life as she overcame the loss of her arm and got back on her board 3 weeks later. Bethany’s story has been told by many different people around the world, but this is the first time she and her family have been able to share it from their heart and perspective.

2 CORINTHIANS 12:9-10—God chooses to use our weaknesses to reveal His power.

God actually reveals more of His glory when He works through our weaknesses.

Ami Ankilewitz was diagnosed with an extremely rare and often fatal form of SMA/2 that severely limits his physical growth and movement. Yet at 34 years of age, he continues to outlive a doctor's prediction of life expectancy by 28 years. And counting. The film follows Ami's journey in search of the doctor who predicted his early demise. Along his journey, Ami attempts to come to terms with another major incident from his past and to complete a lifelong dream: To finally ride a Harley Davidson.

Quadraplegic

Bobby DuCharme, an up-and-coming surfer from Ocean Beach, CA became paralyzed after a tragic surf accident in 1999. The accident left him a Quadriplegic with limited use of his right hand. Over the past 6 years, Bobby has edited together 5 surf movies on his computer using footage donated by local video makers like Taylor Steele and Chris Gabriel. Bobby became a Christian 2 years ago, and now hopes for his story to be used as a powerful tool for reaching people across the world.

Our strengths may actually get in God’s way.

How timely for the church today with its complex and manifold committees, boards, drives, plans, organizations, contests, budgets, sponsors, rallies, groups, and much more.

These can never avail in themselves to bring about the accomplishment of the task God has entrusted to us: a task that is spiritual from first to last and must be accomplished by the omnipotent and unfailing and unerring Spirit of God.
