What Drives Us

1)   We bring glory to God when we bring people to Jesus (2 Corinthians 4:15)

Remember last week’s sermon, Luke 15, and what makes God happy?

2)   We view life from an eternal perspective (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)

The example of Moses, Hebrews 11:24-26

The example of people of faith, Hebrews 11:13-16

3)   We look forward to our future existence with Christ (2 Corinthians 5:1-5)

Grandma Tabor toward the end of her life, wondering why she was still here, weary and ready to go home to heaven.

4)   We live by what we believe, not by what we see (2 Corinthians 5:6-8)

Seeing the Invisible, Hebrews 11:1, 3, Abel’s example still speaks though unseen, Enoch’s faith in unseen God, Noah’s faith in unseen flood, Abraham’s faith in unseen land, Isaac and Jacob’s faith in unseen future, Joseph’s faith in unseen deliverance, Moses’ faith in unseen Deliver (Hebrews 11:27), etc.

5)   We want to please him (2 Corinthians 5:9-10)

We know that we will appear before the judgment seat to give an account of our lives and service.

6)   We understand the terror of the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:11-13)

We believe in the reality of an eternal hell and know that the destiny of people’s lives hang in the balance.

7)   We have experienced the love of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:14-15)

Christ’s love controls us and His example of sacrifice motivates us toward selfless living.

8)   We know that Christ can change people, making them new (2 Corinthians 5:16-17)

The best good news is that people can have a fresh start, that Christ can truly change people, that there is no one who is too hopeless, too far gone, too bad to save.

9)   We have the task of sharing the gospel (2 Corinthians 5:18-21)

It is our responsibility and privilege to share the good news of salvation with others. If we don’t go, how will they hear? If we don’t care, how will they see the love of Christ?
