What False Prophets Try To Do
What False Prophets Try To Do
This message is about false prophets. What is a false prophet? It is one who falsely claims the gift of prophecy or divine inspiration, or who uses that gift for evil ends.
Let’s read and gear what Peter says:
1 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.
2 Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; -
3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.
4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment;
5 and did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, with seven others, when He brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;
6 and if He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to destruction by reducing them to ashes, having made them an example to those who would live ungodly lives thereafter;
7 and if He rescued righteous Lot, oppressed by the sensual conduct of unprincipled men
8 (for by what he saw and heard that righteous man, while living among them, felt his righteous soul tormented day after day by their lawless deeds),
9 then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,
10 and especially those who aindulge the flesh in its corrupt desires and despise authority.
Daring, self-willed, they do not tremble when they revile angelic majesties,
11 whereas angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Lord.
Verse 1-3…False prophets. OK, lets define what a prophet is and does so we can pull truly understand this verse. The “prophet” proclaimed the message given to him, as the “seer” beheld the vision of God. Thus a prophet was a spokesman for God; he spake in God’s name and by his authority. He is the mouth by which God speaks to men, and hence what the prophet says is not of man but of God. Prophets were the immediate organs of God for the communication of his mind and will to men.
Therefore, a false prophet is someone who is not speaking GODS words, proclaiming GODS thoughts, and not speaking in GODS name, even if they say they are.
What will they do?Try to fool you with their words, create division, exploit you however they can.

We must check every word said, discern, every word said.
Verses 4-9…slowly...we must never think that if GOD would not spare fallen angels that he will spare us when we sin. He rescued Lot but condemned Sodom and Gomorrah, and spared Noah, a preacher of righteousness, he will help us.
If we follow others without discerning, we are as culpable for the actions as if we thought of it ourselves.
However, our GOD, knows us and will rescue us from the the temptation...

When you’re driving, you will or should be, observant of what’s going on around you. You always need to have a way to get out of a tight situation, be it a lane on either side, the grass or shoulder, or a buffer area in front of you giving you time to react. Motorcycle riders also have the same things going on.
When being tempted, you will not usually create a way away from that temptation. But, have you noticed that there is a way from the temptation? Next time you are in the situation, take note of what’s going on around you. You will notice that there is a lane or a grassy area or a shoulder or a buffer area in front of you giving you time to react…a way to walk away from that temptation…GOD creates that way out.
Staying in HIS Word, meditating on HIS Word, you will always have a way away from that temptation. It is still your choice to take it or no, as it is when driving or riding. How you react will show others your hope in JESUS, your love for HIM and that HE is the only Way to peace and joy.
Verse 10-11…these 2 verses explain that those who indulge in fleshly, corrupt desires, do not tremble or fear GOD. Jude 8 says Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile angelic majesties.
Even if no one is seen to see you, GOD sees and knows what you are doing. Those who do not have a fear of GOD, do not know what is like to have HIM in their life. So, they do not know hope, guidance, clarity, and love.

2 Peter 2:1-11 NLT...This is where we were before coming to CHRIST, some of us, even after coming to CHRIST, but have rededicated to HIM, knowing that there is no hope or love in this world. Sadly, many of these things will come to pass, and more, as the second coming of JESUS approaches. 'But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves. Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered. In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed. For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell, in gloomy pits of darkness, where they are being held until the day of judgment. And God did not spare the ancient world—except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood. Later, God condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and turned them into heaps of ashes. He made them an example of what will happen to ungodly people. But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was a righteous man who was sick of the shameful immorality of the wicked people around him. Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day. So you see, the Lord knows how to rescue godly people from their trials, even while keeping the wicked under punishment until the day of final judgment. He is especially hard on those who follow their own twisted sexual desire, and who despise authority. These people are proud and arrogant, daring even to scoff at supernatural beings without so much as trembling. But the angels, who are far greater in power and strength, do not dare to bring from the Lord a charge of blasphemy against those supernatural beings.' 2 Peter 2:1-11
