Who is John the baptist?
John the baptist was an unassuming man who had an important message
Baptism is an act, a symbolic act… sort of bathing, the people back then believed not only in a physical cleansing of water but a spiritual one too.
They believed that your heart, your soul needed to bathe as well.
The message of John the baptist
He had a message
It was a hard message
Some took it well - their response was… “what then shall we do?”
Some did not take to the message well - their response was… “Herod put John in prison”
Uncompromising - an unwillingness to change one’s ways or opinions for another.
Based on one own’s convictions and belief
John believed he had an important message no matter the response, and he was unafraid to share it.
Even if it meant a bad outcome at the end of it.
What should our response be?
Who in your life has a message to tell you?
When we hear a hard message to us
When we have something hard to say
Give examples of uncompromising on your message and the outcomes.
When your friend wants to play but you know you have an exam, when you need to respect the teacher, when you know you should not
When you know you have done wrong, when you know
Give a personal examples.
For christians we believe in the bible and some of the values that Jesus exhibited and taught, those things for us cannot be compromised.
Give a personal examples.
Remind them to be uncompromising on their message and advice and to be open to receive uncompromising messages and advice when it comes to them
Uncompromising on their message and advice and to be open to receive uncompromising messages and advice when it comes to them
