12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.
Elab on Paul life up this point. Damascus. He stirred things up there and had to snick him out of the city.
a. 3 Years in Arabia.
b. Started churches, helped others grow in their faith.
c. Beat, throw in jail.
d. Now in a Roman prison.
Perfect: Is perfected.
2. What Paul is saying is this verse is, Speaking of his life, I haven’t gotten there yet.
a. If Paul didn;t feel like he had arrived yet, where do we stand?
“I follow after” I press on.
a. Paul at one time tried to stamp out Christianity, now that same passion drove him to grow it, to keep it going. That was his consuming passion.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

But: Paul talked about being in a race. When you are in a race, you don’t look back. You towards the finish line.
a. Paul had his eyes fixed firmly on the prize, and he did not want his attention to be diverted.
b. He wanted nothing to hinder him for the race and cause to miss the victors crown.
c. He was striving for a full reward-not because he wanted greedy gain, but for the glory of God, the one he loved and served.
d. Paul never complained about the difficulties he had overcome. All he went through was for the glory of God.
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

“I press towards the prize (goal)
a. The object of the finish line, the prize that is waiting for every believer.
b. Paul was pressing towards that mark looking forward to the prize.
c. One day at the end of our Christian life, we will met Jesus and be rewarded. The grown that God can give.
“for the prize of the high calling of Go in Jesus Christ”
Through the grace of His gospel, He has called us to serve Him.
a. He first called us unto salvation, and then He calls us to serve.
b. Paul didn’t want to stand before the Lord having done nothing. We should not either.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
15 Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you;
a. Perfect is not talking about being sinless. But something complete or whole (our salvation) it is also speaking being blameless.
b. Blameless is speaking of living above reproach.
c. We are to live blameless so that we are fit to run the race.
d. Paul didn;t want anything to distract him from the race.
16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
e. We have to be e about things that distract us.

16 however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained.
1: Walk by the same rule, living by the same standard.
a. Let us walk, is a military term, to march in order.
b. As believers we need to be walking to together, reaching for the same goal, and that is to reach people with the love of Jesus.
