Do Not Let Sin Reign In Your Mortal Bodies

The way to eradicate sin from your life is to expose it.

11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even [a]expose them

The reason we do not have victory over sin is because we don’t want others to know about our sin. It is shameful and we are embarrassed about it. So we keep our sin secret so no one else will know. Friend as long as you let sin stay in your life it will always tempt you. We must eradicate it from our lives. The Bible says we are to crucify it or put it to death.

11 Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

The best way to put it to death is to expose it. Believe it or not the best day of a criminals life is the day he gets caught. He doesn’t have to live a lie anymore. He can now focus on getting better.

So guys if you struggle with porn and think that know one knows what you are looking at because you cover your tracks, you are hurting yourself more than you are helping. It is affecting your soul and your relationship with your wife. Your relationship will never be what God intends for it to be as long as you allow porn to be a part of your life. If you struggle in this area of your life confess it to the Lord and tell your wife about your struggle.

Perhaps you have an addiction problem. You may be able to hide and function for a while without anyone ever knowing, but the destruction it will have on your body will catch up to you. You can expose it, get help for it, and live a healthier life.

Your sin may not be as extreme as the ones I have mentioned. Perhaps it is pride and selfishness that you struggle with. If these things go unaddressed they will manifest themselves in every area of your life and you will not be aware of it. However, everyone else will be. You need to confess this to the Lord and ask Him to give you a heart change.

So That You Do Not Obey Its Lusts and Present Your Body To Sin.

If you fail to eradicate sin from your heart, it will manifest itself in your behavior. Everything we do originates in the heart. If sin is in your heart, you will act on the sin that is in your heart.

4 [a]What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? [b]Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask [c]with wrong motives, so that you may spend it [d]on your pleasures. 4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:1-4

Sin is like that common cold. It is just irritating at first. It is not enough to interrupt your life. However; if you do not do anything about it, it will turn into bronchitis or pneumonia. This is enough to put your life on hold. This is the way sin works in our heart. It starts small but ends up being so big that it has a significant impact on your life

Present Yourselves To God As Alive From the Dead

The question is How do I do this?

You must submit your will to God’s will

13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.

This is a matter of embracing and owning who you are in Christ

20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and [a]the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

2. Allow the Holy Spirit to fill you.

18 And do not get drunk with wine, [a]for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

The filling of the Spirit is what is going to empower you.

3. Transform you mind to the mind of Christ

2 And do not be conformed to this [a]world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may [b]prove what the will of God is, that which is good and [c]acceptable and perfect.

The only way to transform your mind appropriately is to study God’s Word and let truth transform your mind.

4. Eradicate sin from your life.

23 and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and put on the new [a]self, which [b]in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Replace the old habits with new ones.

Offer Your Members As Instruments of Righteousness.

Not only are we to eradicate sin from our lives, but we are to engage in acts of righteousness.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Jesus saved us unto good works. He changed us and is changing us to engage in the works that he has prepared for us to do. The works are daily. he has something for us to do every day of our life. We are to engage in those good works. Our good works are a form of worship.

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

When we offer our bodies as instruments of righteousness we will bring glory to God.
