I Want to See Jesus

We Get to See Jesus one Day!

God walked with Adam in the Garden.

After sin came, God was not regularly seen by mankind.

That precious reality was gone.

There was only the hope that mankind would be in God’s presence again.

That hope is brought to us in Christ.

We can’t wait to see Jesus, but we have to be ready.

We must pursue holiness without which no one will see the Lord ().

We must keep our eyes focused on the Son so that we are ready when he comes.

Even in his distress, Job hoped for the day he would see his redeemer

The Psalmist shared a similar hope

But I will see your face in righteousness; when I awake, I will be satisfied with your presence—

The Old Testament Shows Us People Who saw Glimpses of God

But I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the end he will stand on the dust.

3. The incarnation provided people an opportunity to see God in flesh but not in the entirety of his glory

We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have observed and have touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— that life was revealed, and we have seen it and we testify and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us— what we have seen and heard we also declare to you, so that you may also have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

4. We will see Jesus When he comes

a. CSB to seek to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, so that you may behave properly in the presence of outsiders and not be dependent on anyone.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

For we say this to you by a word from the Lord: We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel’s voice, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

Then we who are still alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

There the presence of God with man will be restored.

That sweet fellowship lost in the Garden will be regained and exalted in the new heavens and earth.

This renewed presence is why we are promised the new heavens and earth.

It is the restoration of being with God that was lost by sin.
