Introduction – We learned last week that Jesus is trying to lead us toward a destination called REST. And along the way, He TEACHES us, He TESTS us and He TRYS us. Throughout this journey, He cultivates a RELATIONSHIP with us.
Last week, we left the Disciples of Jesus in the middle of the Sea of Galilee and Jesus Himself was alone in a mountainous area near where He and they had miraculously fed 15,000 people. Jesus tested them before He performed that miracle – they failed the test when He told them to feed the people and all they could come up with was excuses – so Jesus kept on teaching them as He did His thing, allowing them to divide and distribute the food they had already said was insufficient.
When everyone had eaten and each Disciple had his own personal carry out basket, He dismissed class and He himself went up on a mountainside to pray.
