The Principle Vs6
The Principle Vs6
Paul draws from a farming anology here
-He does so to illustrate the principle that “The more a person gives, the God gives back”
-It makes sense in this anology
-The more seed that is sown, the more harvest that can be reaped.
-If you sow seed sparingly, then you will reap sparingly
-If you sow see bountifully, you will reap bountifully
bountifully - eulogia - means abundance…but could also be translated blessing.
Even though our motivation in giving should never be to get something back, that does not render the principle false.
-The fact still remains that those who gives to God generously will be rewarded hamsomly by God in blessings.
-It is true what they say, “You cannot out give God”
-If this principle is true, the adverse is true…that if you withhold giving generously to God, then you will reap sparingly in blessings from Him.
THe Promises Vs 7-15
THe Promises Vs 7-15
God’s Love vs 7
The promise of this text is this....GOd loves those who give with gladness in their heart.
-To give cheerfully, means that your heart is in the right place in giving.
-It starts in the heart…internally.
-While giving as a beleiver is not a legalistic expression of religion
-and its not use trying to buy our way into the kingdom
-not use trying to buy God’s affection
-It is us willfully and voluntarily purposing in our heart that we will give to God
-It is not us going on snap, the offering plate is coming around…let me see what I have to put in…and this rummaging through our pockets and pulling out a winkled dollar bill and tossing it it.
-What is being talked about here is a predetermined decision…that is purposed in the heart of the believer…prayed about…thought about…considered…and given with gladness in the heart.
2. God’s Generosity 8-11a
-When you give away your money, then you have less money
-If you give away $10, then you have $10 less dollars than you had before you gave.
-That is how the world’s economy works.
-But that isnot how God’s economy works.
You see, God is able to make all grace about to you...
He has the power to do that
-That is the wisdom of God, not the wisdom of man.
-Hording money is what the worldly economy teaches....
-If you want to be wealthy, then you must hoard your money. Cling to it and trust it.
-You funds, no matter the ammount are not all sufficient…not in all things at all times..
-But God is....GOd is sufficient in all things at all times.
3. God’s Glory 12-13
4. God’s People 14
5. God’s Gospel 15
-inexpressible.
-Words can never do it’s magnitude justice
-Other gifts can be describe in terms of a dollar amount…worth…value
-Words fail to do justice concerning the value of salvation
-So many people run around looking for a blessing form God, when God has already given us moe than we could ever hope for or imagine in CHRIST
