“The one who welcomes you welcomes me, and the one who welcomes me welcomes him who sent me. Anyone who welcomes a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward. And whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.”

Almost all of these refer to Jesus being sent, ambassador or representative, full authority.

Welcome a prophet because prophet=prophet reward, Welcome righteous because righteous=righteous person reward

Prophet: someone who speaks with the full authority of God, back to representative. Not prophets at this time, but Jesus groups believers with prophets before them, He is now sending out prophets.
In reward, God makes no distinction between prophets and those who support prophets, between righteous and those who support righteous.
Not just about giving money though! Has to be because you truly support their message, BECAUSE they are a prophet, righteous person!
Righteous: Not just those saying God’s words, also those who LIVE God’s words!
A guide for giving and supporting: Those who speak and live God’s words
Welcome righteous because righteous=righteous person reward
Reward: , reward is “the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world,” and as “eternal life” in contrast with the “eternal fire” reserved for those who have turned the “little brothers” away. HIGH STAKES

Give cold cup of water=will never lose his reward

Little on refers to the disciple, not the one offering water. Recognize “Little Ones”, true representatives of Jesus do not always appear as dynamic speakers or inspiring charismatic personalities. Look for the little ones.
Don’t try to be a big one! This is a ministry of smallness, not celebrity.
Little Ones consistently used as a term for Jesus’s disciples, , , (Hidden things wise and intelligent)
Little ones: Sheep among wolves.
Just one cup: Not much but even that is enough. Give even if it is little! A few cents toward missionaries, revivalist, etc.
Matthew 11:1 CSB
When Jesus had finished giving instructions to his twelve disciples, he moved on from there to teach and preach in their towns.
Mark and Luke record their return from the mission, Matthew continues on.
GENERAL
