Recap so far

Monday - Proclaiming that God is our Refuge

Excerpt from
“Be still, and know that I am God”
Primarily when the landscape of our lives are out of control

Tuesday - Recognizing the Spirit of God that is in us

Allows us to walk through our confusion without losing hope
Recognizing that even when we cannot control the actions of others God is a just judge, and He is in control
We have been given a model in Jesus on how to respond, as noted in
1 Peter 2:23 ESV
23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.

Yesterday - we talked about shame

It is a sin to dwell on the shame of past sin
We recognize that Christ has made us new
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
We must embrace the new nature God has given us through Jesus

Today - How we know God is present in our situation

I want to bring you to a familiar passage
Philippians 4:6–7 ESV
6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I’ve become convinced over the years that when we become anxious about our circumstances, and all we do is dwell on what we see, we are living in sin.
This is a clear command in to not be anxious about anything
The reason being, is that we have a God that is sovereign, and in control
When we are struggling in our circumstances, God has made Himself available for us to come into His presence.
This is the whole purpose of the cross, so that we might be reconciled to a God that loves us and invites us into His presence.
Be thankful, that we have someone bigger than us active behind the scenes
Romans 8:37–39 ESV
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The second reason that we can be thankful is that, God is interested in our deepest concerns, He wants us to pour our hearts out to HIm.
Rom. 8:
Romans 8:37–39 ESV
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The second reason that we can be thankful is that, God is interested in our deepest concerns, He wants us to pour our hearts out to HIm.
Rom. 8:37-39

God brings a supernatural peace that we just will not be able to understand
This makes it possible to make it through our circumstance, knowing that the outcome really isn’t dependent on our actions.
This also becomes a witness to those that are around us, watching how we conduct ourselves in these times of trouble.
This becomes a proof to us that we are truly following God’s lead
Gal. 5:22-
Galatians 5:22–23 ESV
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
Peace is a hallmark of God’s presence, so if we seek His presence, peace and so much more is the result.
The mental image that comes to mind is me, who is quite honestly, scrawny. I’m small, and when I was in school, I made a point of trying to make sure that the bigger guys actually enjoyed my company, so that bullies wouldn’t come around. That’s kind of like this. I hang out with Jesus, and the enemy will not come around, because he knows he’s already be defeated. That is the peace we can enjoy.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for making it possible that we can enter into Your presence. Lord I ask, that You would draw Toledo into Your presence, and allow us to feel the joy of knowing You. Draw those that are listening and are going through crazy circumstances, remind them of Your sovereignty and give them peace. Thank You Jesus for being active behind the scenes of our circumstances.
