Effective Prayer

I have to tell you that at best prayer is a glorious mystery to me.

I have prayed for things an have received glorious answers.

I have prayed for thing an received seemingly no answer and was glad i didn’t later.

I have been discouraged that God didn’t answer my prayers the way that I saw fit

I’ve prayed on my knees.

I’ve prayed standing or lying down.

I’ve prayed alone and in a crowd

When in a crown we took turns or we all prayed at the same time.

So here’s my advice on how - just do it.

Today I just want to get across one thing… Prayer Works.

Last Week

We talked about how it says in John that we will do greater things than Jesus did because he is going to the Father — “Anything we ask in His name He will do”

Romans 8:11 ESV

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

I believe it baecause Jesus is not next to us He is in us. And hh want us to let him out.

In the Center of it all

James 5:16 ESV

Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

It is really this statement that the book of James is dependent upon

Take the sentence apart

The Prayer - subject - a supplication, request, etc.

Has Power - verb — Ability to do things by strength drill resources

Great - much, plenty.

Of a righteous person - there seems to be a disclaimer.

Sounds like he is saying as long as you behave yourself but here is what’s really going on

There is noone righteous - not even one.

Christ is our righteousness - therefore we bust be under His authority and if we are righteous, we will pray righteously - according to HIs will.

As it is working - availeth much
