Intro

For the Christian, praying should be like breathing. Just as breathing is the response of physical life to the presence of air, so prayer should be the response of spiritual life to the presence of God.

Prayer is the place where our will meets God’s will and hopefully aligns. It has been said “To pray is to change. Prayer is the central avenue God uses to transform us.” We would do well to understand that if we are unwilling to change we will abandon prayer and miss out on who God would have us to be.
“To pray is to change. Prayer is the central avenue God uses to transform us.” ~Richard J. Foster

Giants of The Faith

Psalm 63:1 NKJV
1 O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.
David makes it a priority to seek God.
Exodus 32:10–11 NRSV
10 Now let me alone, so that my wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them; and of you I will make a great nation.” 11 But Moses implored the Lord his God, and said, “O Lord, why does your wrath burn hot against your people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?
Exodus 32:14 NKJV
14 So the Lord relented from the harm which He said He would do to His people.
Moses succeeds in “changing” the mind of God through prayer.
John 17:1–5 NRSV
1 After Jesus had spoken these words, he looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, 2 since you have given him authority over all people, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. 4 I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do. 5 So now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had in your presence before the world existed.
Jesus doesn’t pray “If it be your will prayers” in certain instances. Especially when praying for others. The same goes for the apostles. Be confident in prayers for others. But when there is a question as to where to go look again to Jesus.
Matthew 26:39 NRSV
39 And going a little farther, he threw himself on the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet not what I want but what you want.”

I’m Not A Giant

You may say to yourself “I am not David, Moses, or Jesus!”. That is true, but I want you to understand that as you grow into being what God wants you to be, as you align your thoughts with his, and your will with his HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU. An Olympian does not become an Olympian over night. They must train daily. Prayer is like training to be an Olympian. It must be intentional, with effort, and with much consistency! You too can be a Giant of Faith!

Conclusion

Prayer is much like a check to be countersigned by two parties. I sign the check and send it up to heaven. If Jesus Christ also signs it, it does not matter how large it is—it will be honored.
