God keeps His promises
God keeps His promises
You cannot always trust man
You can always trust God
If God says that He will do something then He will
Here we have that exact sitution
No one had heard from God, until now
Now we have a man whose name is John and he says he is speaking for God
Most Israelites thought they were good
They took pride that they were God’s chosen people
Then John comes and begins baptism for repentance Mark 1:4
Repentance is recognizing your sin and turning to God
Once they did this, they were baptized
Baptism is a symbol
For the Jews, it represented a cleansing, a new start
This was all by full immersion Acts 8:38
Today, Christians are baptized but not for the same reason
Yes, we repent but we also place our faith in Jesus Christ
We are then baptized to show that we are now Christians
Baptism does not save us, only faith in Jesus Christ does Ephesians 2:8-9
We have one baptism with water, but we also have baptism with the Holy Ghost
You do not need a physical new start, but a spiritual one
Our problem is a sin problem Romans 3:23
We need our sins cleansed Romans 6:23
When we put our faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit lives in us
He cleanses us Titus 3:5
Lives in us 1 Corinthians 3:16
Have you had a spiritual cleansing?
