The Table of Nations

Today we learn about our family history. How languages and nations came about and how they spread around the world.
Genesis 10 is a great etymological study (study of languages).
It is a Genealogy, atlas plus history book. Possibly oldest ethnological book in the world.
some important nations are not mention here (ie Edom, Moab and Ammon)
Some nations today are hard to connect to ancient names
Acts 17:26 NASB95
and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation,

The Purpose of The Table of Nations

How mankind was divided into nations and separated on the earth after the flood (v1, 32) (1 Chr 1-9)

Why is The Table of Nations Important?

To Israel

know their roots. Know their place in history. Know their future. know their land.

But Wait...There’s more!

The Prophecy of Gog and Magog

What is Gog and Magog? Not Rev 20:7-8 Gog and Magog. Not Armageddon.
Invading coalition of nations on Israel that gets annihilated by God
Ezekiel 38-39 tell us.
Ezekiel 38:19–22 NASB95
“In My zeal and in My blazing wrath I declare that on that day there will surely be a great earthquake in the land of Israel. “The fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all the creeping things that creep on the earth, and all the men who are on the face of the earth will shake at My presence; the mountains also will be thrown down, the steep pathways will collapse and every wall will fall to the ground. “I will call for a sword against him on all My mountains,” declares the Lord God. “Every man’s sword will be against his brother. “With pestilence and with blood I will enter into judgment with him; and I will rain on him and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, a torrential rain, with hailstones, fire and brimstone.
In other words, these nations come up against Israel and God throws them into a state of confusion.
Ezekiel 38:23 NASB95
“I will magnify Myself, sanctify Myself, and make Myself known in the sight of many nations; and they will know that I am the Lord.” ’
Who does it involve?
Ezekiel 38-39
Magog: Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Afganistan & Urkaine)
Rosh: Russia
Meshech & Tubal: Turkey
Tyre: Lebanon
Persia: Iran came from Madai, (Nimrod? )
Cush: Sudan
Put: Libya
Gomer: Galatia (Turkey)
Togarma: Turkey
all of these countries, except Rosh are Islamic nations.
When does this take place?
5 main opinions. Preterist, before trib, at trib, end of trib, end of millenium,
Has this happened between 570 AD and now? No, therefore not preterist.
Not Armageddon. Not Rev 20 Gog and Magog. There are far more differences than similarities as you study them.

The Patriarchs of the 70 Table of Nations

Deuteronomy 32:8 NASB95
“When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance, When He separated the sons of man, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the sons of Israel.
