Imagine - jungle - man not affected by Fall, what we have in Christ and not just the pattern , but NEW MAN… not abolish, but fulfill = perfect obedience for our righteousness..but so clear, kept law himself, and more fully revealed the inner meaning - motive from the heart… different in degree, not kind - murder, hate, lust, adultery… Paul explains in terms of Christian living, living in Christ, … love is the fulling of our lives,
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.
not for salvation, justification, but for our becoming like CHRIST as we live in His Spirit… not anti-nomian … nor law for salvation people;, but most definitely need help of the law to live out life in the Spirit , New covenant of OT, Jeremiah, Ezekiel … impossible to think time without law at all - but different role = Spirit writes it on our heart…

A. It is GOD’S Law: must feel this… directly revealed… reverence ie guard like you do against death and danger… any ignoring or contmept … = in day to day living, having Jehovah as your God not speculative spiritual thing - but practical, efficacious and real thing in life =
And God spoke all these words, saying,
Preamble of the USA Constitution- We the people of the US, in order to form a more perfect Union… But not first of all about peple, but about this God!
Most perfect, law promulgated in most perfect way… Two copies one as a record for both parties, one for the people, one before God in the Ark! Not just spoken but etched as it were by the finger of God Himself!
Not just God's law for Israel, but means of casting a shadow of perfection in which man was created in his first nature, according TO the IMAGE OF GOD, “law of nature” also made more clear by revelation,; if restored after the image of the NEW MAN - not just the outward contours of this law, actually work must do, but also the MOST PERFECT MODE OF HOW TO PERFORM THEM… proceed truly and purely sincerely from the INMOST HEART AND DIRECTED TO GOD’s GLORY!

For a COVENANT PEOPLE - then,” at that time—that is, after a singular preparation of the people, the sort that never was used in other laws that had been handed down...(2) from a special benefit, by virtue of that covenant, to those gathered together. The commandment in verse 3 is imposed on us so that we may have Jehovah for our God, and Jehovah only...For this “having Jehovah as your God” must be realized, not speculatively, but practically, efficaciously, and really.

SO that iin every conversation, walk of life, may have light for our actions, from a partiucular and conspicious directrion from some part of this law…
Some said didn’t like CAR MANUAL illustration -as if list of laws vs. story of grace ; from story - manual problem and solution; and more guidebook for daily Christian living - not only for faith but also for practice = And inthis function the LAW is itself a comfort not a burden!
Problem if in marriage ceremony - just I love you… but not how … vows contain what binding yourself to in devotion… sure sometimes hard, often hardest thing to do die to selfishness …but hard right way.. good only way t o find… So too with the LORD prof faith is to commit to way of life too =
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
Not without law… Paul … it was good problem was my ability to keep it, now that’s fixed different role couldn’t use before = For admonition, so that we may not neglect or condemn any word of this law. Because all these words are parts of one and the same law, and from the same authority of the sanction, in such a way that whoever might be dashed against one would be condemned by all ().

D) The Duty of the First Law: Honour OUR PRIMARY DUTY TOWARDS GOD is that we should have him alone for our God!
You will note that at first glance this just seems to have the idea of not putting a pantheon of different gods, before the LORD. But what is inferred is that no other gods can stand before the One true God, that would be a contradiction of who the One true God is. The positive behind this first gateway command is to know the one True God!

We are to Honour God - like child to parent, master to servant, Creator to created … he has power of life and death of body and soul time and eternity. So we are to seek all he proposes. Every promise He has made we are to wait on it for it to come true as a certain hope. Honouring God above all, means BEING MOVED AND AFFECTED BY HIS PROMISES. It means to cling to Him with Highest love. To seek Him as to the highest good.
So we are to seek all he proposes since this is so, also wait everything He has promised as a certain hope.. BE MOVED AND AFFECTED BY HIS PROMISES … with Highest love clinging to Him as to the highest good. = show that you do honour His omniscience, veracity, IE How wise father got when kid turned 25… need same recognition with God … my willfulness… ie Proverbs for simple unconfirmed youth - what will you be confirmed in God’s wisdom or your own folly!
If you will seek God and your higiest good in him, it will means that you trust His omniscience - that he nows all things; and that you trust His veracity - that he more than anythign or aonyone in this world is faithful and true!
Your know the joke about teenager so amazed at how ignorant and stupid his parents were, then moved out came back in his twenties - amazed at how much his parents had learned how wise they had gotten. But here is the thing - you and I need to have that realization with God - living without his direction, wisdom, character, commands - like ignorant teenager, but coming home to Him how wise He is! TO keep the first commandment is acknowledge our inherent willfulness, stubborn think I'm the smartest before God, … ie Proverbs for simple - foolish in immature, unconfirmed, way = youth - what will you be confirmed in God’s wisdom or your own folly!
Why we sing: In Sweet Communion, Better is One Day in Your Courts.. As experience God’s wisdom, truth, follow Him, as the possessor of the highest and most perfect good, so honour God. Only when this something happens inside of you: “affection is stirred up is pure perfect love, will you and I really be led to having no other gods. And the result will be a religious hearing of the Word and invoking His Name = worship. You can only honour God with these operations in your soul.. And if you will BESTOW THIS HONOUR ON GOD = subjecting self entirely to God and rest in His WORD not our own ignorance, don’t live trying to be smarter than God!
HONOUR: KEY TO AVOIDING IDOLATRY AND HOLDING TO ONE TRUE GOD
“You shall have no other gods foreign gods before me - not pantheon and just make sure LORD is #1, can’t tolerate the presence of idols… = all about this honour to render one true living God, If you give that honour to anyone who is not truly God, you have a false God = self, idea of God, any part of created world,
Don't give honour that belongs to God or even part of the honour to give to Him to anything else, that’s the sin of SUBSITUTION with your false god, and your idolatry! When you give that honour to another you are an idolater. But you and I also sin when we don’t give God the honoured place of LORD and Master of your life = PROFANE; and worst of all if you attack God and His Honour, then make yourself an ENEMY OF GOD.
How can you tell? how much hope, confidence, and your own love is placed on things of this world = relationships, stuff, work, pleasures - don’t have your belly, resources, your riches, or similar things for your god!!
