what did you hear when you listened to her?
Go beyond, what was she saying without words.
Have you ever heard of a writer’s voice?
[Written] Voice: An author's unique style and way of saying things. You should be able to recognize an author's written voice the way you recognize a person's spoken voice. In creative writing, one goal is to develop your written voice.
Ill: Janice said “Until I can get your voice.”
voice is your authentic you…it’s your thumbprint
speaking you can say the same thing but it unlocks different places

This woman needs to hear your voice!!!! The foot in my gut when I realized this could be my own child.
They’ve been beaten up and worn down.
Ill 1: Christian in church too long and doesn’t want to take the next step because of what he’s seen!
There’s a reason why Louie Giglio, Steven Furtick, Andy Stanley, Mike Todd have gangles of young folk…they’re talking to them on a medium they’re on. They’re full on authentic.
New Edict: Don’t nobody never ever tell somebody to take their hat off when they come to church. Ushers telling street folk “take off your hat” and they smell like smoke.
I don’t think it’s just Millennials, it’s people. Folk are tired of being taken for a ride.
The authentic self is a goal for all four generations alive today: Seniors, Boomers, Xers, but most especially, Millennials. It can mean something different for each generation, and it evolves over time. We believe that Millennials are the most critical - they are the future. The better you are at being an authentic leader, the more your Millennials employees will appreciate you. - Karl Moore
: Sutton won’t quit
Conclusion: An entire generation is being bred looking, screaming for authenticity.
Hypothesis: Church attendance is really about values. People that were taught to value church no matter what they saw will stay longer and remain faithful. If you ask me, people are looking for miracles not just sermons on them!!!!
That takes a voice not a copy cat!!
Ill: Since the early days of the Accidental Creative podcast we’ve closed off with the phrase “cover bands don’t change the world – you need to find your unique voice if you want to thrive.” A cover band is a band that plays other people’s music, and they often fill music venues and make money, but at the end of the night people go home singing the music. Cover bands are often quickly forgotten, but the music lives on.
Ex. 1 (Evlana) Brandon, his name was on roll. I watched his millenial spouse change and grow…he started showing up more and more. Now we’ve got him hook line and sinker.

1. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? We all had a dream when we were little, but people get sidetracked from their dreams by status, money, responsibility and life. Picture yourself in your childhood dream. Do you see that smile and that positive energy? That can be your life.
2. What makes you laugh? Laugh at what you find funny. Who cares if the person next to you is laughing. Laughing feels good, makes us happier people and sets us free to enjoy the life we are living. Laughter is a powerful tool that can change your mood and your perception of what is happening in the moment. Enjoy the smile and the feeling of happiness rising inside of you.
3. What clothes do you feel comfortable in? This is a serious question. It doesn't matter if you like dressing in suits everyday or prefer cotton shirts and no shoes, wear what makes you comfortable. I am not suggesting that you run naked through the streets or your office, but clothes are a way of expressing yourself and what you wear should be comfortable and should reflect the true you.
4. What activities do you enjoy? Discovering these activities will help guide you towards a place where you want to spend time. By finding and immersing yourself in this place, you will feel happier and more energized. Ultimately you may find that you want to work in that place, or at least create the possibility to spend more time there.
5. Who can you be yourself around? We are social creatures by nature, so it is important to spend time with people who make us feel good and accept us for who we really are. When we are with people who do not judge us but accept us, then we are able to express our authentic self.
Once you discover who your authentic self is, you will not only feel happier but more at peace and more energized. You can start to make changes in your life that allow you to be this person. Face your fears and start your journey to being your authentic self. You will be amazed at how your life is richer and happier. Set yourself free to be.

There are 2 things to listen for...
Who are you??!??!!!!!
When we left, I started to grow out of the old me. I never had a comedic side. Never as overt about loving my wife. Definitely not flowing in the gifts. I like me!
Who are you.
It takes less time and energy to show up as your true self. Research tells us that we all have at least a few blind spots, so it’s important to get regular, open and possibly hard feedback to ensure we are not operating from a blind zone.
Authenticity is the gift that keeps on giving. As you show up without pretense, others start practicing it too, leading to a life with more joy, meaning, fulfillment and success.

Inner reflection can be intimidating, but it will help you to discover your authentic self. Don Miguel Ruiz writes in his book The Four Agreements that “our biggest fear is taking the risk to be alive and express what we really are." He is absolutely right. If you want to be completely alive and be your authentic self, ask yourself these 5 questions:
1. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? We all had a dream when we were little, but people get sidetracked from their dreams by status, money, responsibility and life. Picture yourself in your childhood dream. Do you see that smile and that positive energy? That can be your life.

1) Authentic leaders need to be self-aware and genuine. Before they will be able to encourage and support self-authenticity among Postmoderns, Moderns must be aware of their own strength, limitations and emotions. A starting place for excellent leaders is self-knowledge and awareness. Moderns need to be able to demonstrate their weaknesses and be more open in communicating their feelings. They need to acknowledge their imperfections and mistakes. Give up trying to present a perfect façade, it is untrue and, thankfully, a bad thing with this generation.
must realize you are a lion.
2) Authentic leaders need to be mission driven and focused on results. They must focus on the goals and missions of the organization before their own self-interests. They do not allow the lure of power, money or ego to limit their ability to get the job done. They connect with people and motivate them to pursue common objectives. They embrace the idea of community; a community focused on doing something worthwhile in the world, in a way that reflects excellence. For Boomers, at the peak of your career or on the down side, giving up on the power thing should be less problematic. Throw out those books on power and how to get it and keep it.
3) Authentic leaders lead with their hearts, not with their minds. They are concerned with the well-being of the group. They follow a guiding set of empowering principles which lead them to consider all actions taken insofar as the outcomes should result in increased well-being for all involved. They emphasize trust and respect in order to create an empathetic, supportive environment. Karl has been shadowing senior women leaders. Other excellent academic work and his research seems to suggest that many, but not all, senior women leaders over 45 are good at being empathetic. If you are not, take the time to lean back and watch some senior women show this trait in action - a great chance to learn.
4) Authentic leaders focus on the long term. They evaluate the possible future impacts of their day to day activities. They strive for sustainable and enduring results, rather than those which are immediate and short-lived.
Being authentic is challenging. Some of the world’s greatest leaders struggle with being authentic, so don’t be discouraged if you’re finding this difficult to implement. However, just by being aware of these characteristics, you’ll naturally steer towards exercising authenticity, which your Postmoderns will love.
