Gods attitude

God has thoughts and an attitude towards many things: God has a no tolerance attitude towards sin. God has a special attitude towards the outcast and disenfranchised.

But What are God’s thoughts towards us, not us as christians in particular, but people, the pinnacle of his creative work.

God Loves Us.

John 3:16 KJV 1900

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This is so important, and we must make sure we believe it to be true. God loves you, not in a=some metaphysical way, put in a very real and very personal way. God actually loves you, and He loves you deeply.

Psalm 36:5–7 KJV 1900

5 Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; And thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. 6 Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; Thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast. 7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

Why does God love you? Thats a very good question. Pride might suggest its because you are lovable. That is, God loves you because you are so amazing, that you possess qualities that make you deserving of God’s love.

In reality however, nothing could be further from the truth.

God loves us, not because of us, but in spite of us.

Romans 5:7–8 KJV 1900

7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The reason God loves you is simply because He has chosen to love you. And that is an incredible thought.

Firstly it means that no one is not loves by God, you may not feel deserving of God’s love, but thats ok because you aren't anyways. None of us are. He chooses to love you based on a decision of His Sovereign Will.

Romans 5:5 KJV 1900

5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Ephesians 5:2 KJV 1900

2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

God has an Attitude of Compassion

Psalm 116:5 KJV 1900

5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; Yea, our God is merciful.

What is compassion? When we say the God is compassionate towards you, what am i saying? Compassion is when you have great concern for the misfortune of others.

In other words, God is greatly concerned about you and the situation and condition of your life and well being.

Matthew 9:36 KJV 1900

36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

Jesus looked at the crowd, and what did he see? He saw their needs, he saw their pain, he saw their confusion, he saw their hunger, he saw their thirst, he saw all their misfortune and he was moved with great concern for them.

I want you to take something that is concerning you, and i want you to know tonights that what concerns you, concerns God, because God is compassionate towards you and what you are going through.

God Has an Attitude that is full of Grace and Mercy

John 1:14 KJV 1900

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Romans 5:15 KJV 1900

15 But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

2 Corinthians 8:9 KJV 1900

9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

1 Timothy 1:14 KJV 1900

14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Grace and Mercy. What is grace? a prayer we pray before we eat?

No, the grace of God is the word God used to describe his unmerited favor towards you.

This means that God is for us, on our side (as it were). God’s grace gives us the constant assurance that God is always working for our good.

Romans 8:28 KJV 1900

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

God Has A Jealous Streak.

This may sound like a bad thing, and may be seen as a fault in God’s character. After all, who like a jealous person? Jealousy is seen as a vice, not a virtue.

But it all depends on the situation.

A husband should be jealous over his wife and vise versa.

What is God jealous over? Its not you!!!!

Exodus 20:5 KJV 1900

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Deuteronomy 4:24 KJV 1900

24 For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

Nahum 1:2 KJV 1900

2 God is jealous, and the Lord revengeth; The Lord revengeth, and is furious; The Lord will take vengeance on his adversaries, And he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

What is God so jealous over? His glory.

Isaiah 42:8 KJV 1900

8 I am the Lord: that is my name: And my glory will I not give to another, Neither my praise to graven images.

God has to be jealous over his own glory simply because he is God. Will the one true God tolerate false idols taking what is rightfully his? of course not!

God is extremely Patience

2 Peter 3:9 KJV 1900

9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Next to God’s love this is perhaps the attitude of God impresses me the most and leaves me in awe. The restraint is unfathomable. Do you all know just how luckily you all are that i am not God?

In fact i am fortunate myself that i am not God, because I would have run out of patience with myself years ago and sent myself to eternal hellfire!

Every-time i fail. Every-time time i fall short. Every-time i am disobedient. I thank God that He is patient with me.

God is Faithfull

1 John 1:9 KJV 1900

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

This means simply that God does what He says.

Numbers 23:19 KJV 1900

19 God is not a man, that he should lie; Neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

It is because God is faithful that gives us the confidence to trust in Him and Particularly trust in His Word.
