19. GOD SEEKS FOR MEN
TEXT: “And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none” ().
INTRODUCTION: . “The bloody city”—corrupt! “Her princes, her priests, her prophets, her people”—all are desperately corrupt. God “sought for a man … found none.”

I. Men whom God has found to do His work.

A. In the Old Testament.
1. The man Noah (see Gen. 6ff.).
2. The man Moses.
3. The man Abraham.
4. The man Samuel.
5. “The man Christ Jesus” ().

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
6. But in that evil day in Israel (see ) his search for a man was futile.
Futile - incapable of producing any useful result, or pointless
B. In the New Testament.
1. The Twelve—each one a man enabled by the Lord.
2. Saul of Tarsus who built and stood firm in the Lord.

II. Men whom God is looking for to do His work?

A. Men born from above by the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ.
B. Men with a New Testament-instructed conscience.
C. Men who are “filled with the Spirit.”
D. Men who pray and study their Bibles diligently.
CONCLUSION: “I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here I am! send me’ ” ().
