Intro: In , we have studied and discovered the value of the Bible (God’s word). Three different times the writer refers to himself as “your servant” a servant of the Lord.
As God’s servant he learned well that God cares for His servants. He does not always us prevent us from being oppressed, but He always has a good reason for permitting it to happen.
He is a loving father who teaches us His will and gives us the discernment we need to handle the problems of life.
He promises us that we can find the wisdom and strength we need.
IN HIS PROMISES WE FIND THE TRUTH ABOUT:
I. His submission
121 AIN.
I have done judgment and justice:
Leave me not to mine oppressors.
Psalm 11(
121 I have done justice and righteousness;
Do not leave me to my oppressors.
“I have done justice and righteousness”
He affirming to the Lord that he is not guilty of anything that deserved punishment.
a. He was a man of integrity who had a clear conscience; he had treated others fairly and practiced God’s law diligently.
b. He believed that trusting God would make a difference. He knew God was faithful, so he made his request.
II. His surety:
122 Be surety for thy servant for good:
Let not the proud oppress me.
122 Be surety for Your servant for good;
Do not let the arrogant oppress me.
“Be surety for your servant for good”
Be surety: Stand for me against my oppressors.
9 I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:
Genesis
a. A surety is one who assumes the obligation or failure in duty to anther. God is perfect. His righteousness does not permit to require less.
48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Matthew 5:
1. At the cross, Jesus made a full payment to God for my obligation to God. As my surety, He paid for my imperfections.
a. It should our desire to please God, He will receiver our imperfections because of Jesus, our mediator. He makes up for our inadequacy day by day.
b. No matter how much we try to live a perfect life, we can never do so.
HIS SEEKING:
Psalm 11
123 Mine eyes fail for thy salvation,
And for the word of thy righteousness.
123 My eyes fail with longing for Your salvation
And for Your righteous word.

He was waiting and enduring adversity form oppressors. God cares for His servants. He does not always prevents us form being oppressed, but He always has a good reason for permitting to happen. He has a pupose in His delays.
“And your righteous word”
a. His eyes might fail, his strength might fail, his days might fail, but God could not fail.
IV. His servanthood.
124 Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy,
And teach me thy statutes.

And teach me Your statutes.

125 I am thy servant; give me understanding,
That I may know thy testimonies.

Understanding:Discernment
“That I may know” To know by experience. He wants to live God’s word (live by what I believe) Experience is what differs from gathering information from true Christ-honoring experience.
In VS 124&125 he calls himself God’s servant.
SPIRITUAL POWER.
126 It is time for thee, Lord, to work:
For they have made void thy law.
126 It is time for the Lord to act,
For they have broken Your law.
He submits himself to the Lord, he senses the need to decrease in order that the Lord may increase, he wishes divine power to be released.
HIS APPRAISAL.
127 Therefore I love thy commandments
Above gold; yea, above fine gold.
127 Therefore I love Your commandments
Above gold, yes, above fine gold.

More than gold, yes, than fine gold!
128 Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things
I consider to be right;
I hate every false way.

He depended on God God’s word for direction:
