As physical beings, we are limited by space and time. At times the demands of life become so overwhelming that we almost wish we could be in two places at one time. Of course, we cannot.
In exploring the omnipresence of God, let us discover anew the solid encouragement that comes from knowing this: there is no place, whether Heaven, Hell, or anywhere in the universe where God is not fully present in His entirety.
The finite cannot contain or grasp the infinite — John Calvin
Omni means “All” — Omnipresence means “all-present”

FOUR IMPORTANT TRUTHS ABOUT GOD’S OMNIPRESENCE

He is everywhere present

He is everyplace and at every point between
He has no spacial or physical limitations
He is everywhere present in the fullness of all He is
Psalm 139:7–10 NIV
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
North…South…East…West
There is no escape…but that is a good thing, unless you are facing the final judgement

He is high above...

Psalm 123:1 NIV
I lift up my eyes to you, to you who sit enthroned in heaven.
Psalm 97:9 NIV
For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.
Isaiah 6:1 NIV
In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
Revelation 4:1 ESV
After this I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven! And the first voice, which I had heard speaking to me like a trumpet, said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.”
Isaiah 57:15 NIV
For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.
God is high and lifted up — this truth is a source of amazing encouragement because He is over all —

He is near

Isaiah 57:15 NIV
For this is what the high and exalted One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.
This is a truth about God’s nature that we need to get deep down into our spirits
Yes…He is high above all and lifted up
Yes…He is also with the one is contrite and lowly in spirit
He isn’t only transcendent…He is immanent
He is not only far away…He is near to us
God is High and lifted up…but isn’t it encouraging beyond compare to know that He is also with us the daily lives we experience?
Deuteronomy 4:39 NIV
Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.
Hebrews 13:5 NIV
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Ephesians 4:6 NIV
one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Jeremiah 23:23 NIV
“Am I only a God nearby,” declares the Lord, “and not a God far away?

He is in the depths of Hell

He faithfully carries out righteous judgment and punishment
Revelation 14:10 NIV
they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with burning sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.
2 Thessalonians 1:9 NIV
They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might
He turns His face away…never to offer grace, comfort, and mercy again
CONCLUSION
The omnipresence of God is both comforting and convicting
It is so comforting to know we are never alone
It is a source of deep conviction for people to realize they can never escape God — or His righteous judgments.
Running away is impossible
Let us rejoice in the fact that God is omnipresent — and the devil is not!
